...that's what right click is for!
I kid, I kid! I used to be a little insensitive about this issue until I had to pick up another designers project and she had so many layers that even right click was confused.

- did you make that in Fireworks? lolspot13
- I did actuallyanimatedgif
- Didn't name the layers thoughanimatedgif

lol... yes, Boz...this is actually a thread in honor of your damned PSDs... (not kidding) :)
... the 'Lazy bastard' comment didn't give it away?
btw - I sent the PSDs back to you... I don't have the time to clean them - sara will be hitting you up.
:D :D
- :) Well they insisted I give them the file immediately. This PSD was never meant to be a deliverable. At least not yet.Boz

The argument that you're saving time by leaving a trail of shit is invalid. You're not the only one working on that file. Even if you are, you cannot escape the fact that you won't find a layer easily by right-clicking. And if you rasterize a logo or anything else intentionally, then I will stab you with the pen tool.
- ouch. I'd rather blunt trauma with the eraser tool.antagonista

The photoshop etiquette manifesto:
- CyBrainX0
You could tattoo that on most peoples' faces and they'd still shit all over a PSD and still give it to you to work on. No respect. They live and wallow in their own rasterized filth.
Slobs, learn this.
Smart Objects
Vector shapes
NAME YOUR LAYERSor you're fired.

Ok so who does this as they go along and who goes back in and cleans up afterwards. Show of hands.

or just use Fireworks where you don't have to babysit your files to make them usable
- does Smart Objects/Vector shapes tooanimatedgif
- The only person babysitting your files is the next victim you push them onto.CyBrainX

Arrrrgh, you'd be surprised at some of the ones I get, especially the folks who don't use layer comps. I just love getting a 200mb PSD with basically the same screen's assets duplicated into another folder, when all is needed is just a simple copy change to that screen.

Seriously... the messed up PSD's I used to get when I was a developer at one gig made me laugh... but somehow the designer was NEVER blamed when it took extra long for the rest of us to finish our part... office politics can suck sometimes.... and of course, the suits banned fireworks, which can make short work of shit like this sometimes....
- crazy banning Fireworks, it can be 100s of times faster. Watching people make buttons with the marquee tool is a jokeanimatedgif
- the suits thought we'd be "more effecient" as an "all adobe" shop.... synergy, buzzword-o-rama,etc...vaxorcist
- isn't fireworks adobe???alicetheblue

- I've actually gone through shit like that and named them all.CyBrainX

I find myself going back and renaming layers and dumping unused layers if I need pass it off. Face it, the developer doesn't want to wade through a bunch of shit. If your PSD is a total mess, you risk the final product not coming out right, because it may not be clear to the developer.
- Deleting and naming layers is not the same thing...modernstyle
- i am aware; general cleanup is what i was referring to.bulletfactory
