Isn't this just final cut Xpress?
I'm guessing final cut pro will stay what it is...

It's like Microsoft rewrote Word and didn't include an option to print.

Total mess - that you can't hand off your files to another editor to collaborate with is insane. I'm at a loss as to what to do... convert our workflow to Premiere or Avid or stick with old FCP with a hope that they will release a Pro verion of Final Cut Pro...

- i laughed but this is like a big post production in-joke, i'm amazed it was actually on Conan.Dodecahedron

so I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and use FCPX to edit together a quick, isolated, :30 shot-break down of a recently wrapped job. It's nothing but cuts and titles with no effects at all.
I've never used imovie.
It took me 15minutes to figure out how to add a simple title with no effects.
It crashed 6 times.
After about 15 minutes of use, without a crash, serious bugs started cropping up; the 'skimmer' stopped working, audio played back with blips, and when I select multiple clips and try and move them, it knocks them out of sync.
There are things that I like... I can see how compound clips can be a real treat to work with. But over-all not usable... wait for a later release...

Cool, so what's the thing to use now? Avid? Might as well jump ship while the water's warm!

i know someone who's already asked (and received) a refund
They should have really left the "Pro" out of the name, then there'd be no excuses, lower expectations.i've always been a big proponent of not upgrading until your current tools don't do the job you need them to. i don't really think this is the case with FCP. Version 6 still does everything i need it to
Of course, i'm a hack, so...

Final Cut Pro X is a big, giant Doody Bomb.

I'm playing with it now... if you apply a cross dissolve by right clicking a clip, you can't expand it more than 1 sec. If you drop the cross dissolve transition from the palette you can. wtf?
I'm no professional so I think I'm going to like it. the problems people mention won't affect my little experiments... But it's a big change. Time will tell.

Final Cut Pro X is for the iPhone-AppleTV-Generation! a kind of logical step from apple.
the time for digital-professionals is over...

will FinalCutX got the way of QuarkXPress? i.e. Adobe eats their lunch because they mess shit up and release buggy crap? I gather the lack or EDL's and backwards compatibility is the main gripe...
Why not just call it Final Cut X and leave the "pro" out, as the editing world depends on things like EDL's for sharing projects and going back to re-edit commercials with different endings...

^ This is funny.

I think I'm more surprised at how many people care about editing software. Video Editiing is so mainstream.
I guess my workflow will remain the same as it's been for the past couple years...
