The only other practical use for AR I've seen is the US Postal Service virtual package simulator: https://www.prioritymail.com/sim…

ARCore: Augmented reality at Android scale
Dave Burke
VP, ANDROID ENGINEERINGWith more than two billion active devices, Android is the largest mobile platform in the world. And for the past nine years, we’ve worked to create a rich set of tools, frameworks and APIs that deliver developers’ creations to people everywhere. Today, we’re releasing a preview of a new software development kit (SDK) called ARCore. It brings augmented reality capabilities to existing and future Android phones. Developers can start experimenting with it right now.
- '2Bn devices' yet this supports only only Nougat and above, which is about 5% of Android devices.detritus
- ^^^ It's amazing how little coverage 7.0 has. Mostly, because the devices, somehow don't support it (including mine which is from 2015).section_014
- Me too, I'm on some nexus that runs cardboard fine, yet..?detritus
