Why are we so mean to each other on this website?Have you ever thought about it?
I have a dream today... that one day all designers will treat each other with respect, despite our differences in opinion, whether we are on a Mac or PC, our differences in vocation, our differences in which colors we like, which fonts we choose to use...
I have a dream today... that the days where our knee-jerk reaction is to hate are over... that we will realize the futility in name calling from our laptops, iPads and mobile devices... that we will realize that we're all one very tiny group on the planet... and the bickering needs to stop.
I have a dream today... that QBNers will read threads and take it at face value... and I do mean read and comprehend, not just read...
I have a dream... where we finally realize to be cool, is to be the person who makes everyone smile and does not secretly smite everyone in the room because they're not wearing cool shoes...
Let us understand that a campaign doesn't start and stop with design, let us champion the full spectrum of what we do and who we work for, let us not take anything personal but our own drive to do the best work we are capable of, let us not talk too much about how colors evoke emotion but how the image works with the copy, how the energy speaks to the target market...
We shall overcome. My fellow designers... let us change cynicism into support, snarky into smiles, superficial into beneficial, hate into love, love into life, let us drool creativity into each others mouths and lap it up like a dog in his own vomit, let us find freedom in being open-minded, practicing a sense of respect for the account team, let us make them love us, not hate us... let the rest of the world be douchey, and we designy, pleasantly witty, and genuinely good.
Please add to this ongoing speech if you're ready to make that change... man in the mirror.

I do have to agree with you though, some could be nicer and we sure as hell could lose some of the stupid posters that add nothing.

I'm all for respect. I treat all posters with respect, unless they're acting like a complete asshole, are a spammer, etc.
I think there is a difference between treating people with respect, and critiquing honestly. If someone posts something for feedback, expect some of that feedback to be super harsh.
That's not to say the appropriate response to work that needs some finesse is "fuck off you cunt.. you have no design skils". However, some of the very best design feedback I've ever gotten has been very matter of fact.
"This does not look good and needs lots of work."
Plain and simple.
If you post for feedback, expect some negativity.
If you post spam, expect a shit ton of negativity.
If all you want is praise and good feelings from this site, stick to the GIF animation thread. It's all fun and games there. I love QBN and the community, so quit trying to change us! You fuckin useless cunt ;)

I think alot of the members here are like that.They voice their opinion, someone disagrees, they argue or say something mean and then it fizzles. From what i can tell no one really takes it to serious and after a week or so you cant even remember the guy you were scrappin with...
