Silly me for starting this, great way to bring all the nutjobs out from the woodwork. Please let it die.
Respect each others beliefs or non beliefs and get over it?
=.=

I'm on the process of not believing in god anymore, I mean I know it doesn't exist, it doesn't make sense but I'm still afraid sometimes. I'm fighting against all those years of cristian obligated beliefs.
I'm reading this book:
http://www.theforbiddenknowledge…
it's kind of cookie but pretty cool must all of it makes sense, at least more sense than the fucking bible...

are you circumcised?

Yeah anyway religion sucks monkey balls. I win no comebacks the end bye.

You know what's funny about your argument there, Georgesll? It only works with man-made (and man-controlled) things.
Do swords kill people, or do people using swords kill people? Ooh, thought provoking!
Do tsunamis kill people, or do people using tsunamis kill people? Uh, total non-sequitur.
I also find it pretty funny that some people here complain about dogmatic atheists forcing their beliefs on people, yet totally ignore the reasonable and open debate some of us have been having.

do guns kill people or people use guns to kill people?
if you said the later, you may be kinda right,
now replace "gun" with any word of your chosing, now we can blame God, Steve Jobs or Gadaffi for the everything,
but at the end we're only blaming ourselves for being such fuck ups,who cares what you believe in, I don't, I will voice my point of view but I can't tell you God exist or doesn't because I Don't fuckn know,
neither do you,so fuck this shit, here's a cat

I have no doubt that there are things about the nature of reality that we don't understand.
But the idea of a God that cares about people and responds to individual peoples' prayers is, like BRNK said, pretty much a non starter. In fact the idea of Santa Claus flying around the world to deliver presents to everyone is more believable.
If there is a "God" or higher power of some kind chances are it doesn't bear any resemblance to, or care at all about humans...the same way humans don't care about bacteria.

My stance is this:
Nobody can prove God exists. But if the belief that he does is something that provides a foundation in people's lives, helps them live a morally good life, be good to people around them, and generally just allows them to find strength in something bigger than themselves, then who cares what anyone thinks?
People do that with Star Trek. They do it with comic book characters. They do it with other stuff the believe in and are inspired by. Any one of us can go stir-crazy debating whether it's true or not, but to any individual person, if it's something they find strength in, who are we to take that away from them, or to disrespect that?
Beyond that, it's none of my business what people believe. I don't like religion being shoved down people's throats. I can't stand it's place in elections. It disturbs me greatly that people are running for president that would make decisions because God told them to do something. But beyond that, it's not my place to question what a person believes. I am a Christian, try to be a good person and live a good life, and have had points in life where a connection (and you can define that however you want) with God got me through some really difficult times. Was God really there or was it my imagination? Shouldn't matter to anyone but me.
- my problem is that religion often promotes some of the most immoral actions and thoughts in human historymonospaced
- otherwise, yeah, I agreemonospaced
- Oh, I agree with you there for sure.mg33
- my thoughts are the same as monospaced. I'll just add they think non-believers are bad peoplechrisRG

It took at least 2000 years for the humanity find out about DNA.
God probably do not exist, pretty much like the Santa claus, but it will take at least more 20.000 years to propagate that, because Religion is still necessary in so many places.- necessary is probably not the right word ... right now the world needs some new ideas, not ancient onesmonospaced
- also, 2000 years? you mean, since Jesus? I'd say it took us about 100,000 yearsmonospaced
- yeap... you're right 10k is a good number. by necessary I meant poor countries/communitie... while the new dont appear, they need it!chrisRG

Because they only want to show the contradictories to distract from their own contradictories ..

I'm sick of atheists never pushing a religious belief down my throat
- lolmonospaced
- Most atheists I know are very dogmatic and vocal about their unbelief.gramme
- Gramme, guessing it's either in response to ur own pushing or you've only talked to a handful that happened t b the exceptionPeter
- Even if someone mentions God as as a part of the context here, an atheist pops up and asserts his opinion. Try it in another thread.Beeswax
