Is China really going to be the most important world power and dominate the way we consume, etc.etc.etc?
I'm worried. Particularly having worked with a few Chinese clients last year.
Once they learn your skills, they seem to be quite happy to just replicate your work and get rid of you for cheaper labor.

They already are. They're buying countries debts, then deploying their factories and workers there. At the end of this world crisis, China will come and the end owning half the world.

clearthoughts, if you would be in their position, i'm sure you will do the same...

So does this mean communism wins? Awesome
- EU and US socialist economies are much closer to communism than the authoritarian capitalism of China.raf
- Out of the major powers, the US is by far the most capitalistukit
- Interesting read (from conservative perspective)

I moved to China from the UK 5 years ago to learn more about this country.
China's world domination will be different to England's and America's. so don't worry, they won't close your local mcdonalds. You'll still be able to buy a starbucks, it's just you'll have the option of a green tea latte too.

And... if they got rid of you for cheap labour it doesn't say much about the service you were offering.
- an example is for example fashion campaigns that are replicas from say for example Gucci ones... probably shot for £5K thoughclearThoughts

Not saying anything against them.
Just thinking how the Chinese world domination will affect the rest of the world.
America's world domination for example, only really helped the US. So if you live in the US is fine, but if you are outside of the US it doesn't really benefit you.
- unless you are a minnow like Canada or Australia who really benefit from having the US as a big brother.Amicus

I am Chinese so perhaps I can offer some insight here. The answer is yes, you should be worried. Just look around you at the sad mess Western culture evolved into. I can't wait to get on with the business of firing you lazy cunts while replicating your work.

i was working for a Taiwanese Luggage/ Travel accessories manufacturer. they have 1 Billion dollars in global sales, and are pushing for 1.5 Billion by the end of this year.
i freelanced for this company on and off thru the last decade, but it was in 2008 that they decided to open a NYC design office.
everyone that was hired were all senior level designers with over 10 years experience, plus equal sales and production..
they had me goto asia for close to 3 months, and during that time i had seen a document with everyone's name from the NYC office on it, that would be let go, once they completed their stay in Asia.
My name was on that list. I realized that they were just trying to learn how we in America design or formulate our concepts as they had a design team in Taipei with over 45 designers.
I had worked directly managing their team as well as the production factories in main-land China.
1 month after my return to NYC, the office was closed as they had learned a lot from me and 5 other seniors.
this type of practice is common from China developers, as they are maximizing their capabilities in design and making strong sale-able products.
i got a very nice severance package, but initially we were all working very hard to make their dreams a reality only to get shafted in the end.
very poor business considering their sales figures.
meh.. i should be going to China b4 the end of the year.. this time for a larger corporation.. it will become my 32 trip overseas..
thankfully this is not a Taiwanese corporation looking only to steal ones ideas and talents.
- LOL lets see the exact same thing happen with your new companyPIZZA
- THIS is exactly what I am talking about. Thanks for explaining it so well.clearThoughts
- the exact same thing wont happen at this company, since they outsourced me directly.e-pill
