What does it mean?
If you were to read the first chapter of the Qur'an, your lips would touch each other exactly 19 times.

Too bad the hemp industry is getting over shadowed by the marajuana issue. Is probably easier to get into the weed business than hemp these days, no one wants to invest in hemp no matter how useful and easy it is to produce and I wonder why.
Its funny how big pharma probably spent the last 30 years spending millions trying to crush marajuana research and reform and now they're claiming to want to get into the business if its legalized. IT IS legalized, we have a right to medical marijuana in many parts of the world, why arn't they pushing new and amazing ways to use herb? There's a pharmacological equivalent to every beneficial property of using marajuana from nausea reduction, pain relief to appetite creation ...oh wait... they are two faced profiteers.

think of it like this.
your girl won't give you any pussy. "but i have a right to pussy!" you exclaim. "okay, you can have the pussy, but you can only use it in this place, at that time, you can only do it in this position, you have to be wearing this, you can only get it from me, and you owe me dinner every time."
most people are only hearing "okay, you can have the pussy" and go "YAY PROP 19!"
what i'm suggesting is just forget the girlfriend and her stupid proposal, and get the pussy elsewhere.

I watched this documentary last night:
Free on Hulu
http://www.hulu.com/watch/188913…Very interesting stuff, they mention that Phillip Morris bought 50k acres in Humboldt County in the mid 80s. Those fields are not in use at the moment, but apparently they are in the best area to grow in the US.

lets just take it out of their hands and quit asking mommy for permission
- scarabin0
fuck legalizing it because the only way that's gonna happen in america is if it makes someone money, and then it will only happen the way THEY want it to happen. much like prop 19– yeah, you can smoke it but they'll make damn sure it's under their rules. that doesn't feel like freedom to me, it just sounds like a business model.
just buy from local growers. grow your own. scatter your seeds everywhere– in ditches, fields, your home, in potted plants. make it fucking commonplace. then you don't have to buy it from the government or criminals. take the power out of their hands while at the same time destabilizing criminal marijuana trade

you guys are mixing up the current human rights problems vs. the implications of corporate/state controlled weed if it were legalized.
Its simply put that it is a human rights fallacy to criminalize and incarcerate ordinary citizens for harmless personal activity - its against our constitutional rights
however, if it were legal nobody is saying that allowing corporate/state control to snatch it from the free market is a desired or even good thing
this is perhaps the most logical direct rationality for FREEDOM and laissez-faire FREE MARKETS - a prime example of Economics 101 and how black markets are formed and thrive.. vs. big time state-sponsored capitalist monopolies.
What is everyone so scared of? Freedom? or Fascism?
- I'm on the fence and don't know where to go. I want it to be legal, but now I'm confusedMiguex

when it's the mob's well-being at stake it's the mob who should have the say in it, not some other entity with its own imperatives.
with prop 19 it seems like all it's doing is throwing the mob a bone by allowing them to smoke marijuana, BUT ONLY if it's purchased from that entity in power. ...which only makes it more powerful
- bliznutty0
i posted this in the Politics thread thread earlier - but it really belongs here:
Democracy is like 2 wolves and 1 sheep deciding what's for dinner, or rather 3,789,423 people deciding that 3,261,373 other people should be criminalized. It fails because it implicitly allows mob (majority) to rule with an iron fist. The United States was established as a Constitutional Repub...lic, and under the laws of the Constitution it would be illegal to crimialize the population for personal consumption of a natural plant. Remember the Constitution was written on Hemp and we have a long positive history with marijuana. So I ask the American majority - Is it marijuana you don't like, or freedom? What gives you the implicit right to criminalize your neighbor?
- that second number may not be correct. Maybe that many have tried it, but don't currently smoke it.capn_ron

Its a dangerous thing how they're discussing making money off marijuana. I'm not sure how you stop this from happening besides making sure the laws arn't obviously slanted in big corporations favor. There should be a boycott organized of commercial marijuana products by marijuana users... shop at the local farmers market yo
- this is great, but it will never work, wallmart is an example of hated corporation making big bucksMiguex
- this is why its badDodecahedron

i was actually secretly hoping it would fail, despite my voting for it.
if it passed it would have taken my current right to smoke pot anywhere people can smoke cigarettes away, and instead make me hide in my home to do it. it also would have made it more expensive because of taxes and everything.
- Very tricky strategy thereukit
- ...and its already basically legal in Cali. why ruin a good thing with more lawsDodecahedron

http://stop19.com/why-vote-no/
Why Vote No?
• In a nutshell, Proposition 19 is a very poorly written initiative that would create new, stricter cannabis felonies and would financially benefit its sponsor – the Prop 19 Cartel.• Profit driven corporations will take over the production of cannabis and will drive out private growers. These private growers currently must compete to provided top quality cannabis. The "Walmartization" of the industry will allow corporations to control the market and dictate quality standards and prices to the consumer.
• Large tobacco companies have purchased land and strain trademarks in anticipation of Prop 19 passing. These are the very same companies that pollute their tobacco products with addictive and poisonous additives. With the private growers forced out, nothing will stop tobacco companies from supplying low quality cannabis laced with additives–at any price they choose.
things that make you go hmmm

according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cal…
"As of October 2010[update], even if the proposition is passed, the sale of marijuana will remain illegal under federal law via the Controlled Substances Act"
