Who cares, most of the worlds Windows users are on botnets which could do any of the audio/camera stuff in seconds. Also capturing your screen/keystrokes/history/files...
Why don't they? Because it's pretty fucking boring once the novelty has worn off.
- Really?
I would like to try the shit you're smoking.georgesIII - Whatever he is smoking, it has nothing on the shit you are smoking...ukit
- http://en.wikipedia.… if you are on a botnet they can do whatever they wantPIZZA

As Eric Schmidt said, nothing to hide, nothing to fear:) It sounds a bit Orwellian, but in a way he's right - do you think the government really gives a shit about you? If so, you may be flattering yourself.
Either way, if you're gonna panic, at least get informed first.

The real issue here is that I don't have an iPhone 4 yet, and that's simply outrageous.
Something must be done.

@ ukit
This is true in a way but this kind of mentality is what will lead to us having cctv in our own homes for the sake of security.. and 'oh nothing to hide, nothing to fear'... fuck that, innocent or not, this is (without trying to sound too dramatic) our freedom we are talking about.
- georgesIII0
Ukit we're not discussing Google here,
I posted a thread about Apple filing a patent,
We know full well what google is doing, no need to remind us at every turn.Apple is suppose to think different, be magical, smart, young, hip, open, .. but lately they have proven step after step that all their mottoes are only PR driven.
I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy of Apple fanboys who will always defend what Apple does without thinking of the repercutions.
How many time did I read the usual "Fuck Microsoft" or "Get a Mac" when a QBNuser asked a simple Windows question.Google is supposed to go the totalitarian way if they want to survive because they are almost entirely web based,
Apple doesn't. Apple could show the world what a awesome company they were, but lately they've proven the contrary.es: Putting the blame on other cell phones receptions while silently recalling all Iphone4, when most company would have done it publicly.

Sure I agree. It's just sad to see all this outrage directed at the wrong target. Is Apple really in danger of violating anyone's privacy? I don't see that happening.
- ernexbcn0
Now for a serious reply:
In the event such capabilities are shipped with a product and not related to device recovery in case of theft, the outcry from the consumers will be louder than Richard Simmons shouting while being raped by an elefant, and of course, those will be easily detected (with a packet sniffer).
So yeah, go on ranting about a patent you don't even know what the fuck is related to yet.
- hmmm really,
outcry from apple users lol,
comon,
first world problem rightgeorgesIII - you are just being a trollernexbcn
- ernexbcn you are the only troll in this thread thus far.set

OK, let me be CLEAR
I JUST WANT APPLE TO BE COOL AGAIN
- Apple is cool, however by starting these thread, you are becoming less cool by the minuteukit
- first world problem indeedernexbcn
- Ukit, So trying to have a debate on something that may/may not infringe on our privacy, not cool for you?georgesIII
- I mean, it's fine to debate...just that when I bring up the issue of other companies being worse, you then turn it into a joke about "magic" or coolness...make up your mindukit
- joke about "magic" or coolness...make up your mindukit
- I'm just pointing their own Ads campaignsgeorgesIII
- ukit0
"We all know Google is 100x worse but Apple is supposed to be different"
What kind of argument is that? Either you care about the issue or not.
- autoflavour0
i want my 2 minutes back..
*yawn
- ernexbcn0
- We don't know the real purpose of this patent.
- You have a choice of not buying a product that enforces these privacy violations.
- georgesIII0
The only thing is that Apple runs on denigrating other companies,
look at the "I'm a mac" campaign,
these past 10 years, they went from think different to "we own your hardware"Google on the other part was projected to become like it is right now,
I remember 2 or 3 years ago, I would say google is becoming evil and most people will tell me, I'm a conspiracy theorist, to put my tinfoil hat on, lol illuminati, etc,I'm not really amazed google is taking this turn, I'm more sad apple is slowly going but steadily going the same way too.
If you can spend your time defending apple while criticizing the other corporations while thinking that apple is different, you've been sold the wrong pill.
- @ ukitgeorgesIII
- Google's mantra's still "don't be evil"ernexbcn
- I know right,
yet I was criticized more than once for saying it is completely falsegeorgesIII
- ukit0
OK fine...I guess I just don't understand why people even care about the "hypocrisy" of their ads or slogans. Who cares?
Guess what, I put on some Nikes and I couldn't "just do it." ZOMG
Personally I care more about real world effects. Call me crazy...:D
- Nah, you're far from crazy,
I just hope you'll never become as cynical as me :)georgesIII
- Nah, you're far from crazy,

"and even drove around the country illegally recording data gathered from unsecured wifi networks, I wonder how much of a shit fit some of you guys would throw?
Oh wait, that was..."I have an iPod touch and my home connection is on a DSL dialup with a dynamic IP, changing every so often.
When I click the "my location" button on google maps, the pin drops right in front of my house. How is it doing this? Is the IP data from internet provider so accurate? I kind of doubt it.
- I always wondered that too.georgesIII

The Google wifi case is actually pretty interesting. It will be tried as a class action lawsuit in CA
