Hello all, as you all know 5 months ago some cunt stole my f*ckn bike.
I then bought a junk bike with a Vetta frame for 20 euros (hand made aluminium frame, worth a lot more)
I know how to take it appart and put it back without any problem, what I need, is tips from other QBN handy man on what kind of :
- paint
- wheels
- brakes
I should buy to restore it to a perfect state,
I intend to leave most of the original pieces on though.before:

pure inpiration: http://www.speedbicycles.ch/
favorite: mint green frame, polish the metal parts (pedals etc..) and get a white seat

Hey could you not just leave it stripped back and seal it perhaps. Looks awesome to me and has a nice dry brushed feel to it. Thats my two pence anyway!

i'm with Kidswift on this one. plus if you make it look too polished and slick someone will just steal it again. instead make it yours and ride it enjoying the knowledge that its subtle quality.

nah, I bought a city bike to go to the station,
this one will be used exclusively for my weekend ride with the lady,It was rusted quite a bit so I don't know if I can leave it like that, at least put a transparent coat on it, but I wanted to go with a bi-color set, I still don't know though,

I like my 4 speeds ehehehgeorgesIII

oh its a weekend bike you're not leaving anywhere, in that case make it look super clean and tidy! nice gloss clear top layer over a slightly dark royal blue or racing green. which would run well with a white or just off white seat.

I'm going back down for another hour of manly work,
I found this video, it is too bad I don't have a garage- Montana 'Rattle Can' eh?detritus

Did the same kind of project last year, stripped the bike clean, spray painted it with at least 4 layers of base paint to finish it off with 3layers of matte black. Paint job looked perfect for exactly 2days, each minor bump to it rips of the paint instantly.
Only way to prevent this is to have the paint baked which you can't do yourself, so I'd recommend to get it done in your nearest paint shop (or "beschutte werkplaats"), should be around +-80eur.
It'll last way longer and it's what I'd do if I had to start over again.

you really have to find some paint meant for a car- stuff with metal flecks or similar in it so it can withstand being jossled without it scraping off.

I wish they had stolen you instead.

looking good georges.
mavic open pros have a good rep for being nice 700c wheels, but in reality i doubt it matters a goddam what brand of wheels you get, if you're not racing. something like these would probably be fine, for $125/pair:

dono what sort of cassette you're planning to put on there tho.
- pretty neat,
I was thinking in keeping the original wheels and just getting some white tires, italian stylegeorgesIII - lightweight new wheels feel sooooo nice... old ones may never gonna be trued round enough...vaxorcist
