I dont hate it... honestly, reminds me of the TO team
with the T and the shield
but the fans obviously do....
perhaps too much $$$ for so little change?
I went to Univ of Cincinnati and everyone was livid when we changed our logo because they talked about how much $ was put into focus groups, etc...
new
old
- it's for the soccer team, not the whole uni.iCanHasQBN

Why do NA football teams have to have these shitty names anyways? Cant they just do it like Europe and have nicknames?
Seriously, the "Timbers" "whitecaps" "wizards" "galaxy" --- that shit is so retarded.

A football team named after a load of planks should be easy to beat.
- they're prone to shin splints.iCanHasQBN

Were they chanting
"YOU FUCKED UP
YOU FUCKED UP"
in that video?Hope they don't mind me borrowing that to spice up future creative meetings.

Both suck, but the new one doesn't suck more than the old so I don't get what the problem is.
All football team logos are fucking terrible anyway, and we must have learned by now that the general public are fucking morons when it comes to logos and will just hate everything you put out.
- Yes, not like designers, who initially just loved the new designs newstoday then qbn put out respectively :)Peter

I think the fans will get over it, and eventually embrace it. People just really, really don't like change. I've been dealing with something similar. I redesigned the logo for a magazine and consulted on the layout refresh. The initial negative feedback was overwhelming. I think this was due in part to the fact that they sprung the redesign on their audience (mostly conservative, aged 35–65) without warning, despite my suggestions to give people a heads up in advance that change was coming.
- agreed + note up there ^
but a sidenote to that: people love change - if what preceded it was bad.Peter - ...or just not interesting. Like this guy did: http://www.fastcompa…Peter
- Or something like a presidential campaign.Peter

^ I think gramme summed it up. People are heavily resistant to any type of change.
- not just resistant, but often wholeheartedly scaredmonospaced
- skref0
Lets just say that most people are not only resistant to change, but they're also wholeheartedely scared. AND, they're mostly cunts.
Mostly.
- OSFA0
cunts indeed...

I don't get it... is it THAT bad? Wtf is going on...

"...including a new team ligature conceived and designed by members of the Timbers Army."
So the fans are designing the logo now?
Appeasing the client is one thing. Appeasing their audience is another. This seems like a "please just let this go away" move on behalf of the design agency to me. This stinks of surrender and an "anything to make everyone happy" move - which we can pretty much all attest to - results in a mediocre product.Goodluck to them though.
