I remember hearing from legit sources that the us border patrol stops three terrorist a day,
    maybe he was one.

  • OSFA0

Agree, you are a 'trained' agent, I am sure you could use something other than a 40mm to the head...

  • dirtydesign0

i'm not saying the shooting is justified... but if several people were throwing rocks at you and you had a gun, you might fire it

    • a rock to the head can kill you by the waydirtydesign
    • not if you are trained in risk managementBattleAxe
    • risk management? If a big rock hits you in your temple, you're dead. No 'risk management' involved.orrinward
    • joe blow vs u.s border patrol is not the same shitBattleAxe
    • self defense....whatsup
    • if you manage the risk you will duck or move.set
    • or call for backup and take the high ground like a professionalBattleAxe

Where's drgss when we need him?

  • orrinward0

I agree with dirtydesign. If the immigrants weren't being violent then it'd be completely outrageous.

It may not be justified but a violent mob needs to be dealt with. Not by shooting them in the head necessarily. If they hadn't been throwing rocks they wouldn't have died.

The end result isn't justified but the whole thing could have been prevented simply by not starting violence against border patrol. Violent acts is what causes the border patrol to get trigger happy and nervous.

With all the shit that goes down with armed cartels and such I fully understand how any form of violence could cause an escalated reaction.

    • True orrinwardsigg
    • How about violence from border patrol towards civilians? Or do you think they go by the book?OSFA
    • This is a fair enough comment, i think at MOST they could have shot them in the leg or somethingset

Remember when you were a kid and parents taught you a few things specifically meant to protect you?

    things like:

    -Respect authority
    -Don't play with fire
-Don't play in traffic... etc etc

These kids 'play with fire' everyday (again - the cat mouse games are apparently common-place) - sooner or later it's gonna go bad... ... which brings me back to that whole 'discipline' thing that occurs when you're a child...

... or are these just things 'white' people teach their children?

    • You are making excuses for the agent shooting an unarmed kid. Is this fucking bizarro world?DrBombay
    • and you're forgetting all the violence down there... and the fact that he doesn't have a clue of the intentions of those...PonyBoy
    • ... 'toying' with him (the agent) while he's supposed to be keeping his eyes open for criminal shitPonyBoy
    • But it's "commonplace" though, right?DrBombay
    • so is MURDER you fucking toolPonyBoy
    • but wait... the agent 'murdered' the boy according to you...PonyBoy
    • we're not going to get anywhere... I'm too white and I just don't get itPonyBoy
    • Did the agent fuck up or not in your estimation?DrBombay
    • Should he do time for killing an unarmed kid?DrBombay
    • Or should he be placed back on the border tomorrow?DrBombay
    • both sides 'fucked up'...
      ... no - he shouldn't be charged - it's a shitty outcome to a stupid prank
      PonyBoy
    • but he shouldn't be charged because he has no clue (regardless of home 'common place') what the intentions ofPonyBoy
    • the kids werePonyBoy
    • however... he should be removed from the jobPonyBoy
    • He should do time for manslaughter at least.DrBombay
    • tell you what - I want to know more info... ... if the man's intentions were in fact to kill just to kill... etc etc... throw the bookPonyBoy
    • at him.PonyBoy
    • right now - the situation is presented as a prank that was misread due to the normalcy of violence on the borderPonyBoy
    • If you are shooting guns at humans, what is your intent? To give them a Snickers bar?DrBombay
    • Manslaughter is what they charge people with when they kill someone even if unintentionally.DrBombay

I appreciate what you just wrote there, orrinward...
... the gangs on the border are EVIL... ... pure evil - reading what some of you wrote it sounds as if you think the agents on the border are a bunch of trigger happy hillbillies...

... I don't envy their job at all - and they need MORE help than what they have...

... it would also probably help a bit if Mexico actually gave a shit about their people

    • The Mexican President Condemned the shooting , I think they careBattleAxe
    • lol... I'm talking about their border problems... their drug issues... their kidnapping issues...PonyBoy
    • ... that government is ridiculously corruptPonyBoy
    • And Americans want their drugs. And our system is corrupt. Pick your poison.TheBlueOne
    • Are you justifying their corruption, tbo?PonyBoy
    • Just saying the War on Drugs here in the US has distorted our law enforcement system as wellTheBlueOne
    • ..and the American market need for drugs is the gas in this fire.TheBlueOne
    • The War on Drugs is a huge self=perpetuating money making machine for corporations.TheBlueOne
    • And a source of revenue for local, state & fed agencies. No one is going to let go of that teatTheBlueOne
    • It's a different type of corruption, but perhaps more insidious.TheBlueOne
    • This is why I have been for the legalization and regulation of drugs for sometime... I do agree w/you, tbo... 'mericans 'need'PonyBoy
    • and you're too right about that 'teat'... so much money to be made off this 'war' on drugsPonyBoy
    • just legalize and regulate (tax) the shit out of them... ... like alcohol etcPonyBoy
    • I'm more of on the de-criminaliztion side than outright legalization, but same difTheBlueOne
    • Not sure if I want Marlboro marketing joints or Pfizer marketing cocaine..TheBlueOne
    • All the tobacco companies already have trademarks on marijuana cigarette brand names. Had 'em for decades now.TheBlueOne
    • hahaha... understood - wow... could you imagine the marketing campaigns?PonyBoy
    • although - I'd be willing to bet that the marketing would be regulated to no tv / radio like cigsPonyBoy

At 50-60+ feet and running away there is no way the agent was aiming for his head. His heart rate is probably elevated, running on adrenaline, holding one of the immigrants down shooting at him after he threw a rock. I don't justify it but I doubt he was aiming for the head. Also I doubt at that distance he could instantly tell the kid was in fact 15, and not older.

  • BattleAxe0

you folks are acting like rock trowing is a new thing , or some new way of attacking , it happens every fucking day

  • TheBlueOne0

It's all fear and money now, isn't it. America, fuck yeah. Just like fucking Rome, aren't we all.

It's funny that two of my favorite bloggers now both live in Mexico. One was a former vietnam era Marine, went on to be a Washington DC journalist, total hardcore old school conservative. The other was a Portland sociology professor, very intellectual liberal...both now live in Mexico and both emphatically say America is an absolute fucking wasteland, with no moral center and no curiosity, albeit from two very different perspectives - each being aligned on the mid 20th century conservative-liberal axis.

Shows you how degraded politics and culture has become. It's all wingnuts, murdoch infotainment, guns and internet porn masking our fear over what we've lost.

Mexico might have some deep problems but at least they haven't lost their there sense of who they are.

  • dirtydesign0

i have to say if a bunch of people (potential smugglers/terrorists) were firing rocks at me and i had a gun. i'd probably shoot someone.

    • Exactly. Rocks can kill, and if your only defence against the barrage is a gun...orrinward
    • ...it sucks to be the guy who started the fight. Guns are just more effective than rocks.orrinward
    • Firing rocks?
Terrorists? Are the brown people scaring you, dood?
      Peter
    • Well. Come get your shooting stick. It's your god giv'un right. Serves them terrorist, rock-firing Mexicans.Peter
  • BattleAxe0

and remember in Border Patrol training where they tell you to watch out for rowdy civilians on the other-side trowing rocks and to follow proper protocol

but sure blame the parents , cause you met them personally and knew the mom right , and she never taught her son right from wrong ,

    a family friends said this
"He was not a drug trafficker. He was the hope of this family."
sounds like a real undisciplined kid to me

and oh so easy to say Mexico does not care, WHY? because of their high poverty ? You think the U.S government gives a shit about you and if so how ?

  • PonyBoy0

^^ explain please why the country is in poverty... and why the states aren't

    • Pretty awesome how you glossed over ten items and plucked out that one.DrBombay
    • your kidding right? no poverty in the states? really wowBattleAxe
    • um... are you serious going to compare US poverty w/the likes of Mexico's? be reasonablePonyBoy
    • and you seriously think U.S cares more about you then Mex cares about its citizensBattleAxe
    • yes, battle... I doPonyBoy
  • BattleAxe0

Confrontations on the Border are not new, not something unexpected if you are an Agent Patrolling the Border , the most common weapon is a rock and they are hurled daily from the other side our of smite or for what ever god dam reason , it was what youths do , they chill by the river bead and create mischief , every day,

if you live 100 yards from the Border and you have a riverbed next to your house , as a young street kid you will be inclined to hand out and create mischief , what good do you know at 15

    • you sound like you're justifying this 'mischief' etc... ...and as for 'what good do you know when you're 15?'...PonyBoy
    • ... when I was 5 years old - I was raped repeatedly by a 15 year old - don't fucking tell me young teens don't know any betterPonyBoy
    • where's mom and dad?
      where's the discipline?
      PonyBoy
  • BattleAxe0

@Dirty and if you were a street kid and you saw your friend getting in trouble with the authorities you would run away right?

    • no. i wouldnt throw fucking rocks at cops with guns either.dirtydesign
    • if if if... .. dude - you keep justifying their mischief - why? If it didn't exist - nobody would have been shotPonyBoy
  • vitamins0

    Nobody caught this?

Arturo Sandoval, a spokesman for the "Chihuahua" Attorney General's office

  • whatsup0

  • BattleAxe0

I have friends that are Border patrol , Customs agents,

they know this was excessive and out of protocol ,

no one is justifying shit, just stating that mischief along the river bed, rocks getting tossed at agents is as common as morning traffic ,

you sign up to patrol the border , you know the risk involved and are trained to react to them , this was an overreaction , not a common reaction as you want to paint it

    • throwing rocks will never be 'common'... it's an act of violence - morning traffic is notPonyBoy
    • well... some morning traffic can get violent :)PonyBoy
    • hahaha indeed. And I really like your point Battle... you sign up to be an agent, you know what to expect...OSFA
  • vitamins0

I'm not taking any sides since I haven't read the whole thing, but throwing rocks is fucken dangerous. You can gouge someone's fucken eyes out. Anyone with any decency should know better not to throw a rock. It's a fucken weapon.
