Yo peeps
I know this gets asked every 6 months, but eff it...
My 30" cinema HD appears to be experiencing some death. After that colour issue earlier in the week, it's been calibrated to flip and is still looking shit, so I think it's time to replace it.
Can anyone recommend (from personal experience) a monitor to replace it, between 24" and 30" ?
Probably can't stretch to LaCie money, but would love to hear experiences with their screens all the same.
Cheers!

I bought a 24" Acer flatscreen from ebuyer for £200. It's been top notch. It's not quite as fapp-able in the looks dept as a cinema screen but it's sharp and of course cheap.
- I would have serious concerns over the image fidelity and color accuracy on a monitor that cheap.monospaced
- I only do web but it seems fine to me and I've had about 1.5 yearsjamble

I love my Dell

If you're doing colour-accurate work, they do a more expensive one (+£200) which is more suitable.

Wow, these are coming out at a LOT cheaper than the "flagship" colour LCDs (Eizo, Lacie etc).
Are the likes of Eizo's £1200 24" worth the spend??

I heard it's all about the type of panel that's used.... TN are the most common and they're not so good .. blacks aren't black and view angle is poor. IPS panels are much better - but cost a lot more too... they have more accurate colour characteristics and you can view them at awkward angles.

dell 24" kicks ass and is around 500$ or something.. 27" is good as well I heard..

good reviews here of the new dell 24". (Dell U2410)
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/their 'Panel Search' is a great feature. Just type in the product and find out what panel it's got. TN is lousy for colour. Better is PVA/MVA or IPS (H-IPS)

I use a Dell 24" ultrasharp from 3 years ago. It's still awesome, though some models have a banding issue.
- What, because they're 6bit pieces of shit? You get what you pay for.monospaced
- I paid £850 for it three years ago, it's a great monitor, but some firmwares had issues. Got mine replaced. kthxMojo

Using 2 x Samsung SyncMaster XL24
LED Backlit ftw :)

Dell 24 Ultrasharp here. I do get a slight banding issue in blues and primary colors are damn bright but I'm happy.

Samsung SyncMaster 275T here for web work, it's accurate.

how do the LEDs measure up now? I got a shitty samsung tn panel next to my mbp led right now and they both suffer flaws but different ones

I've heard a 27' iMac is a better buy than the 30' Cinema Display but with more pixels......
Not sure if you can get a Matt version, cause I hate glossy.
- yeah the 27" imac is still cheaper than a 30" acd right.erikjonsson

I had a 30" Samsung 305T, beautiful monitor with great color (mostly web work). Lasted about a year and is now lost in the warranty process, I should probably call about that soon its been too long =(

another nod for a dell. i've got a 22" as a second display for under CNY2,000 and it's niiiice for the price. does a 90degree swivel and pivot and stuff. yellows are slightly off though, but i've not calibrated it. should i?
