"Your democratically elected, indigenous, bonk-eyed representitive. I'm a danger to others and a national fucking disgrace"

"I'd like to think that given the airtime the BNP would talk themselves into a corner but for all his abhorrent policies, he's pretty savvy"
Surely you don't think that. I always think he comes across as inarticulate, shifty, duplicitous and also pretty thick. I always think its good to give him coverage because anyone watching who isn't already a fervent racist would be completely put off by him.
I haven't actually seen a great deal of him, but that's the impression I have got from the brief glimpses over the years. I'm actually quite worried now if he's capable of working it like a go-sistah.
- He knows he's got a chance to reach millions, I'd bet he won't show his real side.jamble

My parents were close to voting for BNP just because nobody else offered such strong work-class values. In the end, they didn't vote at all. We are in one the most diverse countries in the world here in the UK, our taxes allow us to have a free health service (which we still complain about), arts and science which is always pushing boundaries and we are one of the most respected countries in the world. It's good we have people to make sure things are run fairly, because we are a pretty greedy breed of animal.
Don't get me wrong, it's a tough job balancing everything, but all I hear are people complaining. We have left wing activists having a go about our countries stance on climate change, we have right wing politicians like Nick Griffin convincing millions that we need to get back to early war-time values which is pathetic. We all want to be heard, but it's sad that we all have something to moan about, because my life is pretty good right now! Me me me me meeeeWe shouldn't stop people saying what they want, just educate people properly and encourage a more thoughtful and humane lifestyle. Maybe?

According to the BBC's director, they were only invited to take part precisely because of the way their following has grown in the last couple of years, the BBC sort of have to take them seriously now.
Can't help thinking this is just going to exacerbate things a bit, but the BBC have quite rightly said it's not their place to censor, but should the government impose a broadcasting ban on the BNP (as Thatcher did with Sinn Fein) then they'll oblige.

yea fuck the blacks.

they make some good points tho, about immigration and the blacks.

These scoundrels shouldn't be given any platform.
- lowimpakt0
nasty is right - they are pure scum.
- must_dash0
Yeah they look to appeal to the worker... but have a nasty undercurrent to what they're about.

jamble - some people are just rascisthe BNP fit their profile but there are lots of people who have been screwed over by the state and have been let down by badly Labour.
The other main parties don't offer them much - The Tories are too posh and the Lib Dems are a bit Meh.
A lot of people have no one else to turn to.
- must_dash0
They only got in because too many people DIDN'T vote, thats the sad thing. If you've got a bunch of people who feel strongly they'll vote for a fascist party like that, whereas too many people just though 'meh, can't be arsed to vote'

He's still free to speak but question time should probably just tell him to speak to someone else and fuck off.
I'd like to think that given the airtime the BNP would talk themselves into a corner but for all his abhorrent policies, he's pretty savvy and it would be unlikely he's going to say anything controversial which would mean there's a danger he'd actually appeal to people watching.
I still can't believe 1 million people voted BNP in the last elections.

there is a tradition of not providing a platform for rascists and fascists.
but there are a not to shabby amount of rascist british people (scum) that voted for them so I think they should be on show like question time.

Why is everyone in so much uproar that Nick Griffin is appearing on the BBC? Surely if we say no, we are taking away freedom of speech, which has much worse implications.
