I've been working at an agency for about 2 years, a colleague asked me how long I've been there and commented "wow that's a long time"
Do people normally shuffle around agency to agency? I thought this always looked bad on resumes, like you can't keep a job down. Maybe this industry is different?

im in my first real job and i've been here over 4 years.
i wonder sometimes should i get moving too...
new influences & approaches, etc. all that jazz.i've seen lots of people come through the door too with similar comments to me. fuck'em in the ass i say. if you are happy in what you are doing and feel like your job is pushing you to be a better designer why move, just for the sake of moving?

i've heard (in entertainment design/film marketing) people generally stick around for 2-3 years before switching it up. switching jobs helps get your salary higher as it's raising every time you go someplace new (ideally)
i've been here 4

Recently I've changed job. I worked for an agency for about 5 years. For 4 years it was a real nice job, untill the management changed to a couple of complete retards...

a friend of mine job hopped all the time. managed to get his salary from £25,000 to £100,000 in just 4 years by not staying in a job longer than 4 months. we're not friends any more. (he's a system engineer btw)
- system engineers are almost like mercenaries these daysclearThoughts

If you have skills and talent either it will be rewarded or you really should move on. (Your portfolio looks good btw)
If you are thinking of moving on, it certainly wouldn't hurt to test the waters and get some idea if you are worth more, or could work somewhere with a culture that is a (even) better fit.

It's typically a fast turnover industry in terms of stay rate, been this way for maybe 20 years—give or take. I think rapid job turnover (2–3 years) is more common in firms and agencies on the coasts than it is in the Midwest and south-central areas. People tend to hold onto jobs a bit longer around here. There's less transience in general.
