^The most controversial part of the Bush administration was def the War on Terror though. In regards to the new administration, I don't see any dramatic difference. I think Obama was quite naive about ending the war. Now that he is faced with the truth, I see more of the same happening. Personally I think it's all peoples perception....and in Obama's case the overwhelming perception of him is quite good. He is a great speaker and he has won the hope of many, but in the end actions speak louder. So as I said above, history will be the truth teller. At some point either his respectable words and ideals will come to fruition or they wont.
- oopps...that was @morilla's comment.designbot
- yeah, I agree. That's why I said it was premature.morilla
- and most people understand you just can't pick up and leave a mess like that. It takes time.morilla
- yeah, even I had high hopes about the war...but we are now faced with the sad reality.designbot
- I think "premature and odd" as you said, pretty much sums it up.designbot
- Agree to an extent, but the war in Iraq is winding down no matter whatukit
- Agree as well...TheBlueOne

Obama naive about the war? You're kidding, right?
You were naive about Obama, that's more like it.
It is his image of the good guy embedded in your head by top ad agencies that produces a cognitive dissonance and makes you rationalize Obama's actions.- I wasn't naive about anything. The very most you could say is I had a skeptical hope about the war...and i never bought into the Messiah-like image either.designbot
- Messiah-like image of him either. And, I didn't vote for him.designbot
- Who did you vote for, Palin?DrBombay
- I understand you hoped he'd actually bring some change...
I see it this way:raf - a classic good cop/bad cop strategy: he wants to, but there are powers and circumstances that don't let himraf
- And since pre-office all he talked about was the contrary...he was naive.designbot
- Or he capitalized on it because he new it would help win him office.designbot
- I voted libertarian Dr.B. I'm not a libertarian myself, but I felt the party best represented my views at the time.designbot
- I always said trusting a politician is just as smart as falling in love with a hooker.raf
- I'd vote libertarian too btw.raf
- lol, true true.designbot

we can argue and slap dicks all day long, but what it all boils down to is his wife looks like a pirahna

This is about as legit as giving Gore the prize for talking a lot about an issue he's not going to do anything about.

so a board of incredibly intelligent, upstanding people elect a number of recipients each year, the likes of which have been scholars, men and women of genius intellect, ground breakers of physics, chemistry, science and economics... basically the best and brightest with arguably a few exceptions and exclusions over the years... and some americans are upset about it and call bullshit? how can a vast majority of other countries welcome and accept obama, but almost 50% of america can't? i don't get it and i'm almost embarrassed to go out in public sporting my american flag zubaz and iron eagle t-shirt calling myself an american. turn off fox news. turn off glen beck and for the sake of the CHILDREN turn off rush.

I've learned one thing recently: Post no political opinions on Facebook and stay out of comment discussions started by friends.
I don't really post that sort of thing there myself, but considering I have a number of Fox watching, conservative Texans from back home on my friends list, the conversations on there today have been a bit chilling.
I don't know if I entirely agree with him receiving this award so prematurely, though. I'm not going to go crazy about it though. If anything, let's just hope it helps things be accomplished. There's no doubt in my mind that most of the world looks to him in a promising way, after eight years of nonsense from Bush. I don't know that Obama can accomplish all the things he wants to, but I at least put much more faith in him actually trying and succeeding than I would anyone else.
- So true. You should hear what my friends are saying in the South. F-in disgusting.morilla
- except he isn't supposed to win on what he might do, but what he has doneshinpo
- mikhael gorbachev won it on hope for perestroika. So historically, you are wrong. But keep going.DrBombay
