I need a way to protest the olympics and I was thinking a simple t-shirt. I just did a logo which I'd like to post for critique and slander soon.
As a side note, I just read an article regarding a committee that is going to be outside venues with the intension of confiscating anti-olympic banners and other such propaganda?
Can they take the t-shirt off your back?
Back to my original intention; what do you think? You can belittle me for not knowing how to post a picture...or tell me how!
- Pixter0
why is that
- ismith0
I'm rather indifferent, but I don't see why they would confiscate anti-olympic things... I'm curious as to why you're actively opposed to the olympics though.

I'm with you camer. Make a second shirt for me and I'll join you.
%#$! the Debtlympics!
- inkpink0
you need to host the image somewhere... ie: http://imgur.com
and yes there are a few vancouverites on here that oppose the olympics, and then on the flipside a couple who actually work on the official vanoc graphic team.
i'm not going to name any names.

+ to answer your original question, i think at events you will simply be forced to leave if they cannot take the shirt off your back.
how easily you choose to leave is another question.

I just want to say what I think. And I want to make a proper anti-icon, so Im asking for advice.
Why is that? The 2010 Olympics will be in my backyard, literally. Meanwhile, all local elementary and high school sports and arts funding have been cut. Of course there are many other worthwhile protests, and while my heart goes out to many, I have to stay close to home.
- ok so host it imgur.com and post the
"www. imgur . com / image.jpg" or whateverinkpink - Amazing new facilities in your backyard after the Olympics, I'd not be complaining.ShaneHolley

@camer don't forget the massive debt of Olympic village that we're going to paying for. Or the fact that we have worst homeless problem in N. America and the money wasted on the Olympics could go towards helping these people.
- Could you house them in olympic village later? Wouldn't help the debt really, but idk what they do with it when it's done anyway...ismith
- wait till all those cameras that we installed come into use. When we use footage fromcamer
- them to 'catch' the homeless adn "ugly" people and move them to a tent city or throw themcamer
- in jail till the olympics are gone and overcamer

At least there will be more housing for the Aussie lifties in Whistler once the games are over.

There are many reasons why I think the Olympics are fuct. But the main one (most recent) is free speech. I was at work today and at lunch reading some article regarding this committee that will possibly be partially made of volunteers who can decide what you can say regarding the brand.
It struck me that a person opposed to anything has the right to say so. This whole Vancouver Olympics thing has become an economic platform (one destined for failure) more than celebration of culture, people and games. From trademarking words such as 'Friends' to stealing money from sport funding to throw invite only parties granted by the government, it's bull.
My protest is quiet, simple and easy. I plan to create and wear a t-shirt with this emblem as a primary t shirt.
- Print it, do it. Bonus points for not being obnoxious! :)ismith
- Make it and I'll buy one for my bro, he's in Van and is opposed as well.Andrew_D

the second one should not be used, plain and simple.
too wrong in too many ways to explain.

it's pretty simple and a first draft idea
I had it at work and searched it out, (very quickly) and just did it on instinct...

agree with ukit you gotta do the the multi-color for it to work, doesn't read as olympic related in 1 color.
but will be much more expensive to screenprint 5 color... look for someone who can maybe do it digital dyesub or transfer.

As far as my dream at work, this is how it went...
In my head, "Can they take the shirt off your back?"
My mind replied, "Probably. If they can trademark the word friends, I'm sure they can come up with a way to do whatever they want."
"So, what if when they took my shirt, the same image was painted on my chest? Pretty sure there's laws against skinning people in public. And there's for sure a law against plain skinning people..."And so on.
Thanks for the replies. Thinking of maybe making a couple up. If you want one, send me a note with a shirt size and I'll cover the printing. You cover the cost of the shirt and delivery.
- Count me in. I'm local so I can pick it up.2cents
