Re. Crowd-Sourcing.
"At my agency, Mullen, we’re experimenting with it ourselves, joining with clients to try it out and meeting with as many crowdsourcing companies as we can to determine how best to use it.
Why? A. We owe it to our clients"

Alex Bogusky:
http://alexbogusky.posterous.com…I wrote a comment:
"Crowdsourcing is just like crossing the picket line. You should know better."- it looks like he deleted it. At least that means he read it. What a piece of shit.

crowdsourcing is like crossing a picket line. you should know better.

It would be interesting to see if these agencies change what they charge their clients since the "creative process" of crowdsourcing effectively just takes the time to post a project on a website and sift through the entries.

What a coincidence that the founder of crowdspring gets to post the very first comment!

the agencies are desperate. too much overhead in hard times.
the good freelancers (you) should take over and do more acquisition, steal work from the larger agencies!
because NOW is the time!
- I was going to write the exact same thing. The way to save these clients money is to cut out the bullshit agency owners and account teams (there are SOME good account people, I know)Josev
- and worthless account people. I hvae worked with some good account people, but most are just a waste of time.Josev
- literally steal work from agencies. finished work, just change the logo.monNom

"This logo was crowdsourced in 1916. A 13 year-old won the contest."How misleading. No way thats the drawing a 13 year old created. Id guarantee it was re-rendered by a professional. And in 1916, it wasnt digital based design anyway, so the 13 year old def didnt know how to create transfers and mechanicals. shit, i dont really even.
- you dont believe a 13 year old could draw a line-drawing of a peanut with legs and eyes??iCanHasQBN
- what the fuck is wrong with you? your drawing skills must suck.iCanHasQBN

"He was invented when a young schoolboy named Antonio Gentile submitted his entry in the Planters' contest to create a brand icon. Later, a commercial artist added the monocle, top hat and cane."

i think what moving brands did here has been best use of crowdsourcing in design so far. getting the market involved in the conversations, but still guiding the direction utilizing their expertise.
