All windows here. Looked at switching, but the slow tech support just isn't worth it.
Fingers crossed W7 is decent, Vista simply sucks.

ive been workign on both platforms for a long time. pc was killing before mac went intel on performance. now its definitely closer performance wise. mac is a ram hog and is slower in most areas. may be minimal in some, larger in others. theyre getting better though. however when it comes down to it looking at vista vs leopard on similiar hardware i find better performance from a pc (pc has more thrid party options too which i love) at half the cost. pc u do have more options and more configurations so knwoledge is necessary, well its really commons sense stuff, but still. oh and i have no idea how bad vista sucked originally i upgraded when sp2 emerged and it is solid. the only trouble was i had to flash my mobo for the upgrade and it made my bootup time slower with the patch.
- but i guess it really depends on your knowledge base. do u want to work for youre comp or it work 4 udeathboy
- oh and no my coworkers are mac fanboys that believe u can only be called a creative with a macdeathboy
- majority rules so ill stick with my mac for work. who knows maybe someday it will be better and then ill knowdeathboy

Good graphic designers don't use PCs.
It's the law.p.s.
If you really compare (and care) about small percentage gains in the processing speed of applying 16 consecutive Photoshop filters to a 2GB image, then you should buy a PC.- ozzy's are think thats the lawclimbatree

good designers do good design. the god damned tool is fucking irrelevant. if some fucker uses and amiga with a green screen yet somehow makes the best design anyone's ever seen then that's that.
to think the tool makes you better is so much shite. use whatever you prefer. whatever software you prefer. jam crayons up your arse and bark like a dog for all it matters.
i'v got a top of the range mac, all the latest software, 13gb of ram and create complete design-shit. real bottom level crap. so i know what i'm talking about.

and to actually answer the question that started the thread, i've known a few people who were pc users try and stay the course but to be honest the issues they've come against are mainly the lack of ability to swap resources - things like fonts and software were obviously harder to 'borrow' off people so for all the money saved on the actual machine purchase they had to then go legit to get the software. now that fonts are going opentype and the software is pretty cheap people can choose whatever platform they like.
- your friends had a hard time finding pirated software for windows?!?!!?!? wow.zarkonite

Marvellous response sir. My provocation is not worthy.
You're missing my point however. The tool is irrelevant, I completely agree. A lot of the work I and many others here find inspirational came from a time before this argument existed.
All I'm saying is that graphic designers tend to stick to Macs. I would bet a large sum of money that this is the case for the majority.
There is the momentum of 20+ years of design for print, using fonts and print shops running Macs, that has shaped this.
If this was simply a decision here and now about which tool should anyone choose, go for it, otherwise like me there's a lot of history and experience and no reason to change. Why should I?
- i actually figured you were cracking a joke so it wasn't a rant at you sir!airey

Don't know how to pick up and carry your iMac G5? It's easy. Before moving your computer, make sure all cables and cords are disconnected.
Pick up the iMac G5 by grasping both sides of the computer. Carry it to wherever you wish.
