mission/pacific beach are totally rowdy and crazy. 24/7 party beerpong at 2 in the afternoon on a monday type of place. The bars are full of drunk assholes & homeless people scour the neighborhoods for whatever they can get their hands on.I lived there for a month and left because it was so bad.

Ocean beach/point loma are nice areas. Nice neighborhood feel and is reasonably quiet. (sep for the airplanes) As a general rule, you wanna be east of sunset cliffs blvd and south of newport. Head up the hill to find more expensive housing.

La Jolla/Del Mar are totally affordable just gotta drive arround and see what you want/where you want to be. Of course closer to the beach is more expensive, but if you go back into the smaller parts of the town you can find a nice little pad that wont break the bank.

Downtown is cool, but its on the edge of the really sketchy parts of town and theres a lot of spillover. That said, I go there whenever I am looking for a good bite to eat, or want to go to a jazz club or something. Good music, and food, housing is nice, but if you want to be near the beach, its not the place for you.

Encinitas is where its at in my opinion. everyone is really friendly, the town is full of nice little restaurants, vegitarian/vegan places, yoga, surfing nice breeze in the afternoon. However if you work to downtown your commute will be HELL.

Mission Hills is near balboa park, and is sort of the hidden la jolla. Nice houses, nice neighborhood, expensive to live there, but its one of the nicer places to live.

Little Italy is just north of downtown, a lot of (if not all) design firms located here. Its sort of the arts district I guess. I just found a sweet little architectual salvage yard there the other day. ITS PROJECT TIME!!!!

Thats all I got to day
