I just read that Ikea wanted a font which they can use in Asian markets .. do maybe Verdana already has a character set that can stretch that far?
I suppose extending (Ikea) Futura to include new alphabets would have cost a huge amount of money - no one would do the job without charging a company that size millions, surely?

- you probably don't know how corporate type works. millions? buahahajimbojones

The should just sent those fucking new Asian IKEA store owners a box with lines and curves and instructions on how to put their own character set together..

Personally I love Futura, however I wonder about it's future. The aperture of the 'a' and 'e' are a bit too restrictive for web, imo.

I am personally so sick of Futura, that I find Verdana more refreshing.
What's next?
Grafik magazine ditches Avant Garde for Arial Bold??

cool verdana looks so good on the web!

Does this mean that Ikea will launch new websites soon?

Old IKEA catalogues will be worth fortunes if it is pre-Verdana era. The collectors are truly excited about the news!

Verdana must die for the good of the planetIf you’re using the Verdana typeface in your printed documents, stop now.
There is no need and it is helping destroy the planet.
Verdana takes up about 19% more horizontal space than Arial. So a switch away from Verdana could reduce your paper costs by up to 19%. For further savings, switch to duplex printing at the same time.
- is this true?Coffeemaker
- maybe we should all use that movie poster font. It takes up very little horizontal space. /sarcasmAmicus
