I might have to get my friends to waterboard me, because I still don't understand how it can be that crazy. I 100% believe that this technique induces inescapable feelings of being drowned, I've seen the documentaries and demonstrations and heard the testimonies. But, wouldn't holding your breath and waiting it out be enough to get through it?

I'm on same page here. I'm against it - simply because it is torture. I've watched 2 demonstration videos on it..
..but even then, I still can't quite grasp what' so IMMEDIATELY terrifying about it. Both time the guys freaked out almost instantly and jumped up within like 8 seconds. I'm sure sooner or later you'll run out of air and start panicking, but I know I can hold my breath for over a minute, and I really can't imagine how some water pouring on my face for 10 seconds could make me lose it like that..
- I think part of the fear in the truest form is that you don't know how long it will last. Sure you can hold your breath for a minute, but what if someone made you hold it for two minutes.Brand0

If waterboarding is legal, why don't we do it to serial killers to find out where they stashed bodies, rapists, etc.?
