I might have to get my friends to waterboard me, because I still don't understand how it can be that crazy. I 100% believe that this technique induces inescapable feelings of being drowned, I've seen the documentaries and demonstrations and heard the testimonies. But, wouldn't holding your breath and waiting it out be enough to get through it?
