- What do you mean by picky? They do pick from UK and US, sometimes hard to know which version is used here.raf
- that remark sounds far too opinionated.Corvo2
- didn't mean "picky" as paranoid. I meant it as someone who takes care.Corvo2
- sorry, it seems it's me who's confusing threads,Corvo2
- As to what I've siad it's true:
The sense of poetry is not random.Corvo2 - Irish have almost lost their mother tongue, but they made English their own:some of the best English literature was writtenraf

After almost four years in Ireland I still don't know where Irish English stands in this regard.
Soccer, not football, but rubbish, not garbage.. I honestly still have no idea: truck or lorry?..
Interesting read, especially the grammar part:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hib…- usually a lorry is a smaller trusk whereas a truck is biggen.airey
- That's weird. One would think Ireland would be picky with words.Corvo2
- why would you think ireland would be picky or anything?!?airey
- because so.Corvo2
- Not picky as temper but picky as good and incisive.Corvo2
- fair enough.airey
- any irish i've known couldn't give a fuck about language usage. more loose than anal.airey
- This one gets emotional about it (not about English though): http://clamnuts.com/…raf
