Goerge, I'll bet you can blame the US for every problem on the entire planet, right?
- GeorgesII0
no
I'm just pointing out some facts,
like I would point out the involvement of the french in the rwandian massacres or the chinese in tibet,
I find it strange that tbo, ukit and DrBombay are acting in the same way getrefresh would do when he puts all the blame on Obama.
I do not put all the blame on the US and never did before,
I'm just giving another point of view.- it was a good point.KwesiJ
- Just saying I don't think you've thought through your point of view..TheBlueOne

GeorgesII - I just call them like I see them. Your view of the world seems rather simplistic, Third World good, America bad.
I have no doubt Europe, China and U.S. take advantage of Somalia's lawlessness. Doesn't mean the Somali pirates are the good guys or that this particular incident is some kind of ruse.
- If only you knew my background you would not say this. I am for the law of man not the law of the jungleGeorgesII
- DrBombay0
I am not one to cheerlead everything America does as good, but you are DEFINITELY not one to cheerlead ANYTHING the US does is good, just saying.

I'm an occam's razor kinda guy, and I think making an argument that this pirate thing is a black flag operation by the CIA or pentagaon or whoever to get the US military onto Africa soil just doesn't play out for me, that's all I', saying. I'm not tryiong to say the US is all good or whatever, or even that the US doesn't have a potentially agressive african policy, because it always isn't and it does, respectively. Just saying that your suggestion of this pirate incident as a part of that particular plan just doesn't ring true to my understanding.
- they already on african soil they need an excuse to go public about it. this stuff is just stroking the fire first and providing a context for the media.KwesiJ
- proving a context for the media.KwesiJ
- They don't need an excuse to go public about it.TheBlueOne
- They do. There's a new president, the good guy. He can't just send people there, it needs to be provoked.raf

are you ready to bet on this?
I'm out to watch monster vs alien,
I will bookmark what you said and every now and then pull it out adding more and more info,
have a goodnight.- Bet on what? That this pirate incident isn't a false flag operation? Yeah, I'd bet on that.TheBlueOne
- what are your odds?TheBlueOne
- don't go, that movie sucked.Point5

I mean the US already supported Ethiopian forces moving against Somalia a few years back:
http://blog.wired.com/defense/20…
I don't see how this pirate incident makes things BETTER for the US if it's seeking more primary military control in Somalia with it's own forces (which I kinda doubt...). We don't need it as a justification to use force at all...In fact it makes everything that much more complicated and deadly, which is something you tend to want to avoid a priori if your goal is some sort of military takeover. I just think you're making more out of it than there is.

I have to say, I'm not sure why when it comes to politics on this board there is never a lack of conspiracy theories to go around. Some people (like GeorgesII here) seem to be SO knowledgeable & passionate, but have way too much imagination for their own good. It sometimes feels like people have a very hard time believing that there is no "secret agenda" ALL the time. Especially when it comes to the U.S. We're always the bad guys. Even when we're the ones being robbed & killed. It's still the United States that's at fault. I can't help but laugh at some of the most hysterical b.s that people try to push here by throwing out maps & links to "facts". Are you guys seriously defending a band of pirates who OBVIOUSLY are out to get rich & nothing else. No, you can't "open my eyes" to this "injustice" against there people. Apparently the pirates are warriors for a good cause... how many times have we heard such propaganda. It's unreal. I'm blown away that there's even an effort to try to rationalize this & paint the aggressors as victims. It's HILARIOUS to be honest... pure comedy.
- sad part is there is always undeniably an alternate agenda in polticis and world conflicts. i don't see how you can remove this from that reality.KwesiJ
- or anyone can remove this issue from that fact.KwesiJ
- also everyone who does deny it provides no reason as to why this is just as it seemsKwesiJ

Africom has nothing to do with any Sino-American cold war scenario. It's more about utilizing more efficient command and control structures; also providing more effective liaison training to native security forces—in short, about establishing the rule of law so there's not a humanitarian crisis emerging every 2 years. This spate of pirate attacks are hardly an excuse for the United States to become more active militarily in the greater African continent. We can already do that (if we had the means). Unfortunately, we're overextended militarily as it is in Iraq and Afghanistan. US Military thinking is evolving much more towards training of local forces. The pirate issue is something that all nations involved in international trade have to deal with since we're talking about the security of a major sea lane. You may be playing devil's advocate here, but the points you are conveying are overly simplistic and frankly, rather boring. And your patronizing tone makes it all the more annoying.
- <- @Georgesllhomeostatic
- Thank you.TheBlueOne
- you can't over extend a corporate mercenary force, more fight = good business.KwesiJ
- What corporate mercenary foe? Are you seriously suggesting that Blackwater would be able to launch an invasion of Somalia?TheBlueOne
- Somalia? And what? Hold it? You're out of your mind...TheBlueOne
- invansion? man they're fighting little gangs of africans. same thing they're doing in pakistanKwesiJ
- mercs. are in fact fighting in africa and pakistan as we speakKwesiJ
- yet many people keep talking about 'over extending the military'KwesiJ
- PMCs are no substitute for the American military. They're just a band aid.homeostatic

isn't the imported thing, that the people who got hijacked and kidnapped are safe now.
- TheBlueOne0
You know, as much as there is this whole "Americans don't understand the rest of the world" meme, which is in vary degrees true, more in some ways, less in other, that seems to gets lots of play in the world media, there is the correspondingly also true bit that the Europeans and others grossly really don't understand America either all that well, which you guys seem to not take into account...much easier to cook up some cockamamie "US all powerful conspiracy" theories as much as many in the US drop the europeans as "surrender-monkey-socialist-wimp...
- seems like your simplifying and putting words in people's mouth to ignore that points that were madeKwesiJ
- *facepalmTheBlueOne
- ukit0
Let's face it, none of us are privy to the facts. That's why I laugh when blitznutty and others start talking conspiracies/ Amero/ NAU etc.
Guys, if there was in fact such a conspiracy, you would be the LAST to know!

it does not surprise me that we yet again glorify killing of human beings , think about this , they (pirates) could have killed the entire crew and taken the ship , but seems like the motive was really a ransom , so lets kill them right?
what about all the people we have in secret prisons and being held with no room for negotiation
when will we learn, when will we change is it just human nature to kill ?
paying ransoms is nothing new , so what took that option off the table ? http://www.nowpublic.com/world/r…
