Yes. The rich people who ran the banks fucked up. They also pay few taxes. All the money collected in taxes from the middle class just went to the rich people, because, hey, they fucked up, but they used their riches to buy the government.

I don't think you people get it. It's not "the rich". I have no problem with someone working hard and accumulating some bucks to pass on to their kids, etc. The amounts of money that a particular class has now concentrated is motherfucking obscene. That's who I think us "fuck the rich" people are talking about. That upper 1%. Their the ones that can buy media outlets, that can buy congressmen, that can buy islands.
Those are the fuckers.
But no, keep thinking that we're somehow against "capitalism" or whatever when what we're really against is oligarchy.

At what threshold does it change from acceptable to "obscene"? That's what I don't understand. What difference does it make if you have $1m or $10m? It's the same ratio as $10k to $100k.
Buying a car? Okay. A boat? Nice. An island? Not cool. But why? If a car is a luxury for me, can't an island be a luxury for someone super rich?

Actually, even taxing everyone at a flat rate isn't that fair either.
Everyone pays taxes for the legal system, the police, the army, the roads, national parks and whatnot. Is someone wealthier using more of the road or the army? Are they using public health, pension, education or welfare systems? Not at all. Yet they pay way more with tax progression and would still pay more even with a flat tax.You're not driven by justice, but with envy.

I do worry Dobs. As I wrote before, Ireland is on a downhill slope. Rising taxes and increasing welfare spendings at the same time is a recipe for destruction. Ireland grew to be rich doing just the opposite and that's what it should be doing now during the recession.

Rising taxes in Ireland? Ireland still has one of the lowest tax systems in the world. Your probably pissed because the cheap labor force from Africa is no longer needed because of the global recession and now Ireland and its people do not want to give them citizenships, benefits, healthcare, etc...
