I don't do any interactive work, so I won't even get into that conversation, but I did take the time to check out thepda's site. Apparently they are on a mission to make websites "correctly" at P41, yet their site has terrible grammar, dead links and a thoroughly unimpressive client list. I guess it's kind of ironic that he a) began this thread and b) can't get a big client (like BMW). Also explains his hatred for Flash.

Flash has been ahead of ajax in my humble ignorant opinion

Just something else to throw out there and it doesn't get mentioned a lot here - producing projects in Flash tends to be pretty damn profitable when done right. We make a hell of a lot more coin on a flash site than html and other media.

Troll with outdated knowledge and equally outdated screen name, who possesses a supernatural ability to blindly use horrific grammar makes idiotic statements.
Crowd throws pie.
Troll leaves.
Never to be seen again. :*(

I was going to get involved in this conversation, but thepda is too much of a brick wall to bother arguing with. The rest of you did a fine job trashing him.
I will say this though, I'm regularly annoyed when I have to fight through a Flash site for Photographers/Designers portfolios. I find it incredibly frustrating and annoying when all I want to see is the work.
- that's the truth. although my site is all flash, the work is right there. 1 click away.lvl_13

The rest of your mentioning the emotional impact of Flash are correct.
The only thing I'd mention is that I rarely see Flash being put to good use these days. Even some of the sites you all think are impressive (The GE Ecomagination site) are such sad examples of interactivity they might as well be a YouTube video.
Very few firms are working to put out truly INTERACTIVE work. Hi-Res comes to mind, but most are charged with taking other mediums content (Film, TV, Print campaigns, etc) and shoving them online.
