just realize that you're never going to approach the quality of a DSLR no matter what as it's just an issue of size, there's only room for a postage stamp sized light sensor, about 1/4 the size of an average DSLR sensor. some certainly have superior lenses, but after getting used to a nicer camera it may be frustrating to not be able to capture things like low light and motion

I bought a leica d-lux 4 for $675 but returned it after a few days. personally, couldn't justify the price for the secondary camera and paying $300 more than a panasonic version. I might just buy a panasonic lx3 or ricoh gx200. The gx200 with a VF is only $450 at adorama. i am just not sure about the noise and 14m pix on gx200.

I know that it's not the gear that make a good photographer but his talent to take good shots and maybe his hability to correct the color in Photoshop.
So I conclude that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 will be a very good choice for me. This is some of my photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bnf…::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::...

the Sigma DP1 is great. has incredible colour and detail. but lacks a lot in speed and low light.

if you go to some of the shots with clouds. you can see the difference it makes.

DP1 is awesome, I have one. but ONLY really good in daylight or bright shooting. I find I want to shoot more in night time and low light situations so one day when the DP2 comes out, I'll get that or maybe sell this baby and get me the hot Lumix LX3

you can buy my 5D, it's light (compared to a heavy bowling ball)

I've got a SD1100 canon elph. Bought it after I broke my SD550. I think they're getting worse, but also cheaper. I'd recommend trying something else. Those Lumix posted on here seem pretty swanky.

I'm leaning towards the Canon G10.
Since I shot canon already I like how the menus and function are the same.does the new one have all these adapter to?
- if you buy the adapters you have a huge camera - in which case, why not stick to a dslr?********

I say go for the LX3. I have the fx35 wich is the low end and it's fuckin great for its price. Only dislike the lack of control on the flash, but that's surely not a problem on the LX3.

LX3 is my final choice.
I will sell my Rebel Xti.
I really think I would be able to do the same job with the LX3 that Iam doing right now with my Rebel. I shoot mostly outside, so I always got a lot of light to take picture and I think Iam good at post-processing in RAW software to adjust the colors and white balance and all.
