had 3 until about 2 weeks ago, our jack russel jumped out of the truck (got out of her chain) without us knowing about till about 3 hours later, at some gas station somewhere in Mexico.
we have a pitt bull and Rott/Shepard mix left.sucks.
we went back and posted reward signs a couple weeks later, but she was a pure bread Jack russel, I just hope shes in a good place and not wondering the streets like all the other dogs I see doing down here.

I have three dogs.
They're great, but it's a right little herd when they want to be.
Its about double the fun of 2 dogs, but double to work.
dogEnjoyment.extra = dogWorkAndStress.extra = (num(currentDogs)-1)*(num(newDog...

yeah ive heard several trainers that say when you go from 2 to 3 dogs a pack mentality is put into effect. if you're willing to deal with the dramatics of it, until they sort out the stacking order... go for it

Do you walk the two you already have? If so, then why not? I mean as long as you can afford the food and vet bills.

I have three dogs and, yes, you are completely out of your mind.

Our dogs are 9 yrs./60 lbs.; 7 yrs./30 lbs.; 1 yr. 50 lbs.
Here's the problem with three dogs—you have to be really tight with obedience. Everyone has to have a place. Feeding, going out... there's a set order to how everything flows. It's not just more work, it's that you don't get to enjoy them as much.
I bring our oldest dog to work with me every day and it's definitely more pleasant/relaxing than when I'm caring for them three at a time.
But, you're obviously a big ol' dog person and that above is not really that strong of an argument against it, so what the hell, right?

http://www.flickr.co…blaw - thanks. that's a good point. I'm thinking that the boston who is a little over a year could use a playmate. other dog is 11.monkeyshine

- Thanks, dude. Here's one of my favorite quotations (cannot find the originator to give them credit)...blaw
- "Two dogs is more than twice the work of one, and three dogs is about how much work you'd expect five to be."blaw
- Hahahah... damn, it wouldn't be funny if it wasn't true.blaw

ah! Thanks for everyone's input. I think I'm going to try to restrain myself. I had this idea that it would be a nice playmate for my year old Boston Terrier...my other dog is 11 and still plays some but can't keep up with the year old terror.
:(
