Do any of you regularly feel energetic and alert most days? Aside from getting enough sleep, anything you've found that helps you stay on top of things and not feel sluggish all day?
Diet? Vitamins, supplements? I'm really looking for some serious answers so the first person who says "coke," it really won't be funny. I'm exhausted today because I was up too late last night, but I regularly wish I had more energy and just felt more, eh, alive I guess, not sluggish and beaten down. Average day starts with plenty of coffee and by mid-afternoon I'm in a solid downhill slide.

Yeah, excercise... I don't get any, but am close to getting a gym membership. That might be a major thing missing from my life - regular exercise and a better diet. Maybe a colonic to get it going good from the beginning.
- id say youd be amazed @ the extra energy after doing reg excercise.blackspade
- "am close to getting a gym membership" haha, I've been that way for a decade now..Nairn

* good breakfast
* sugarfree redbull
* exerciseeating lots of small meals combined with the above keeps me active. don't sleep too much either. 6-8 hours only. i find if i sleep more i'm more tired when i wake up.

I think my main problem as well is that I just can't, no matter how hard I try, go to bed at a decent hour. I feel like I am wasting time if I go to bed before midnight. It would be awesome to get in bed every night around 10:45 or 11:00 and read for half an hour. Seriously, that would rule.

I've come to terms with the fact that my body doesn't want to sleep at normal hours so I decided a long time ago not to fight it.
I sleep from 6pm to 11pm. Work on my own shit and watch good movies from 11pm to 7am on week-days and then go straight to my day job for 8 hours. That leaves a pretty good gap for running errands and socialising before bed on week days. On weekends it's a fucking free for all and I barely sleep at all. Now that you mention it I think I may have a sleep disorder.

honestly, all the old cliches are true - good food, really pay attention to all your micronutrients, dark green veg, olive oil, vits and minerals.
Exercise and sleep - Im in bed by 10, listen to some noodly intellectual ted.com type stuff on the pod, then up awake without an alarm by 5am. Try starting work in the dark, with the sneaking feeling you're really getting one up on the rest of the world asleep - then you've done a shitload by midday, and the rest of the time is really your own. To exercise and eat right, lol..
Only drink coffee in the morning, don't go to sleep on a full belly - it's easy to not do these things, and get in a run-down rut, all back to front... hope it works out for you

Reminds me of Radiohead:
Fitter, happier,
more productive,
comfortable, not drinking too much
Regular exercise at the gym, 3 days a week
Getting on better
with your associate employee contemporaries at ease
Eating well,
no more microwave dinners and saturated fats
A patient better driver, a safer car,
baby smiling in back seat.

mg33 – u might be using up too much of your energy in the morning with the coffee rush. you need to pace yourself. drink more water and maybe consider switching to tea as it is less hard on your kidneys/liver. you'll have to give up that morning HOLY SHIT I'M ALIVE rush but you'll be glad in the afternoon when you're still able to keep your eyes open.

i smoke a bowl around 3pm and it picks me back up

If I'm at my place and by myself, I set my alarm for 7:45 and pretty much always lay there until about 8:15 - 8:30. Sometimes I have coffee ready when i wake up, but other times I wait until I'm at work.
I drink on average about 2 - 4 cups of coffee in the morning total. I just love it too much to drink less.
I drink a decent amount of hot loose leaf tea during the day - herbal, mate, etc. from Argo Tea.
I drink at least two liters of water a day EVERY DAY. That's the ony big constant; if I drink less or very little water, by 3pm I'm really agitated.
- The huge amount of water thing is key. I force down gallons every day.metal_leg_will

And, like I said as well, I really, really want to get a gym membership and make that a constant part of my life. We worked out on our cruise in october and it was great - elliptical machine and weights. If I get going on that, I know I'll change my diet to not make the working out a lost effort. Just trying to decide between Bally's (gag) @ $45 a month or a super nice place down the street for $110 a month.

I hardly ever drink water. I know it's terrible, but I just can't seem to make myself do it.
- same. I only drink while I am eating, so that I don't eat much.Jaline
