The reason Corinthians says women were "to remain silent in churches" is because this was back when women were simply not educated...in fact they were not allowed to get an education. So the premise has nothing to do with them being women (other than the cultural attachments) but them not being educated.
Remember it was also a women (Mary) who was the first to discover the empty tomb of Jesus...and was thus, an eye witness. This was a very important role she played as a women, which was unheard of at the time. So to try and make the claim that the Bible is somehow sexist doesn't hold ground.

When is the new Bible coming out? We've had the Old Testament and the New Testament, but those are really out of date. When is God going to give us guidance on internet porn, genetic engineering, space exploration and answer why he got rid of all the dinosaurs and didn't think it was important to mention them.

It seems to me there's a lil bit of hypocrisy going on. You write off the part about women not speaking in church like it's nothing, yet the other parts about gays and abortion are dead serious. Why?
Seems to me if this book really is the word of God, you can't just cherrypick the stuff that is politically correct.

I didn't write off anything....look back at my explanation. Read about this and you will see that it is accurate. This verse is always taken out of it's cultural context like many verses in the Bible.
I am not cherry-picking at all. This just happens to be one of those popular verses that people like to use to discredit the Bible. There are many many more, and I can assure you that if you do the homework you will see that they (the arguments) don't hold any real weight. In order to truly understand what has been written, often times there are profound implications of the time, culture, language, and other things that the average person would never understand simply by picking up the Bible and reading it. So the end result is over and over again we have people not understanding what they are reading, taking it out of context, and assuming certain things when they are just simply wrong. The basics can be understood by anyone, but there is a reason people study the Bible sometimes for their entire lives.

I guess what I'm asking is, how do you distinguish between the things that are meant "only for the time" and the ones we should follow today? What criteria are you using?
To the casual observer (me), it seems that you are tossing out the ones that are inconvenient because they seem sexist or un-PC, ie, no longer socially acceptable.
You have to admit, there is no indication in the Bible itself that any of these decrees from god are meant this way (have an expiration date on them).
