The reason Corinthians says women were "to remain silent in churches" is because this was back when women were simply not educated...in fact they were not allowed to get an education. So the premise has nothing to do with them being women (other than the cultural attachments) but them not being educated.
Remember it was also a women (Mary) who was the first to discover the empty tomb of Jesus...and was thus, an eye witness. This was a very important role she played as a women, which was unheard of at the time. So to try and make the claim that the Bible is somehow sexist doesn't hold ground.
