I didn't write off anything....look back at my explanation. Read about this and you will see that it is accurate. This verse is always taken out of it's cultural context like many verses in the Bible.
I am not cherry-picking at all. This just happens to be one of those popular verses that people like to use to discredit the Bible. There are many many more, and I can assure you that if you do the homework you will see that they (the arguments) don't hold any real weight. In order to truly understand what has been written, often times there are profound implications of the time, culture, language, and other things that the average person would never understand simply by picking up the Bible and reading it. So the end result is over and over again we have people not understanding what they are reading, taking it out of context, and assuming certain things when they are just simply wrong. The basics can be understood by anyone, but there is a reason people study the Bible sometimes for their entire lives.
