When sending out simple
print jobs, what do you generally
use?

Always have consistent quality with PDF X1A.
- + 100.....PDF X1A when not sending a packaged InDesign or Quark filemarychain

Can't go wrong with a good PDF

PDF, and if there are complex transparencies and such then PDF/X1A to flatten that stuff out. EPS can be tricky depending on what kind of EPS it is and JPG is just a no go due to compression and rasterization of vector elements. You do not want this.

I have been on a crusade to rid this studio of eps files with limited success. I only ever send out JPEGs for web or PowerPoint (eugh) jobs. Everything else is almost always PDF. Yet we still come across some genius who feels the need to open them in Illustrator and complains to us that things go wrong when they try to work on the file!

The printer house I work with have been working and satisfied with pdf's, they are actually very cool guys, not "picky" or convinced about their "superlative technical skills on the print works, so it's great that I can count on a print-house that makes great discounts and have awesome support + patience on the final arts I send.. PDF all the way.
- (side talking about my relation with them ...) and I mean: most of the print-houses are very picky with designerskodap

PDF, flattened, all type outlined. I can't think of an instance that you'd want to ever send a JPEG to press.
- though, there are online agencies that request them. (buyer beware)jett

depends on the output really - when I'm doing bags and packaging they always like EPSs - printing I use PDFs.

For ads and postcards, etc., I send PDFs; for everything else, I send collected InDesign files.
