1. repeat positives to yourself. have a morning meditation, an evening meditation. when your mind gets into a positive rhythm you begin to change your perspective.
2. make up a story about your current situation as if you were relaying it as a funny joke to someone about it years later. it will help you see that 'this too shall pass' -- the pendulum ever swingith.
3. be grateful for what you have. take a mental list of all the things you have been provided with in life and be thankful. (i.e. incredible graphic design skillz, a really kind demeanor, a great sense of humour, a loving relationship).
4. treat yourself kindly. stay away from caffeine. get plenty of rest. eat regular meals. stay away from fast food and alcohol binges.
5. as jane fonda would say, 'don't forget to breath'.
you have had it really hard and i'm almost jealous because i know how this works out! you suffer the hard times only to experience good times in the same extreme and it is so rewarding to become that much stronger and perseverant. don't get too attached to your current situation .. realize it is just a transitional point.

sorry to hear you're going through a tough time 5timuli. spend time with your mates, eat well and if you're close to your family let them know you're going through a rough patch. we all go through them and i've learned that when i'm there, the best thing i can do is not hide it (like i usually do)...it only makes it worse.
as far as the nightmares, it sounds as if you might be pregnant. ha! seriously when i was knocked up i had the worst imaginable, most vivid dreams about family members and pets dying horribly. you know, the type of dreams which manage to really bum you out all day even though you know they're only dreams. these types of dreams are anxiety-based. you must be really wound up and anxious about something, so try to relax and see the positive around you, do only the things that make you happy or comforted etc.
i hope you feel better soon!

A problem shared is a problem halved mate face, it's good you can tell folk you are feeling rough. This may cheer you up a bit.
The last time I tried to make love, I managed to spill a cup of hot, MOTHER FUCKING hot tea all over my ass, instead of sweet sweet love I had to get cold cold pads put on my ass :'(

Go to the gym and just get into a zone. Our minds and bodies are linked more than you realize. Helping one helps the other. A really good workout can do wonders on the emotions, your outlook, your mood and more. Just go nuts and get really sweaty. When you get out, you'll feel better overall, and will be truly tired rather than mentally drained. Then eat a good meal, read a good book, and go to sleep. That's my prescription.

ive been in the same boat :(
just got out of a school and got a job in nyc, commuting every day, miss all of my friends and broke up with the girlfriend. its like everything got flipped around in the last couple of months.soo, to counteract it, ive just been hanging out with old friends, keeping as busy as possible and melting my brain with the stuff i truely love...my bike and terrible sitcoms.
god bless friends. they make everything better.
just hang in there! time takes care of everything it seems.

start at the beginning of the Pic of the Day thread and don't stop until it hurts laughing :)

don't just get outdoors, but go outside and do something you never tried before. learn kung fu or a new language, ride further or down a different path. It helps when you accomplish something you didn't know or didn't think you were capable of. Running did that for me.

Sounds like you could be lunar sensitive - full moon time. Plus, it's just past the autumnal equinox so the effects of the cosmos are heavy.

i have been feeling down too but that's because of the stock market. seeing so much volatility everyday and watching depressing news is emotionally draining.
like someone pointed out, running helps. also try to keep yourself busy. thinking too much is never good. life happens and there's only so much you can prepare.
