I want to see Ron Paul vs Barack Obama.
Prob not gonna happen.
- Ron Paul isn't up to it. He's comfortably reliable as the underdog. (The Right's Kucinich.)********
- Vote Jon D********
- Romney will end up winning the ticket, although Cain speaks his mind and is much more straightforward.********
- and for sure 110% do not want to see Bush Jr. II aka Perry in there, FFS!********

If Herman Cain was so smart, he would realize he has absolutely no chance of getting the republican nomination.

Cain, along with Bachmann, Santorum, etc. don't care about this. There's a prestige to adding the "Presidential hopeful" title on your resume. But, more important are the generally raised celebrity profiles and higher speaking fees that come with it.

The Republicans are a joke. Obama is unpopular.
Perfect year for a third party candidate to swoop in and win, but there isn't a good one of those either.

- i had to work illegally as a kid to get money to buy gijoes. started around 9-10. worked with illegals********

hey ukit
just from my own experience it would likely have made things easier. i had many doors shut by regulations because i wanted to make scratch my parents couldnt afford to give me as some sort of allowance. made me only have the chance to become employed under the table by shady people. perhaps i should have just stole and found other ways to obtain gijoes.but that wasnt my style and i knocked on doors offered all i had which was labor without experience. lots of odd jobs and worked in a nursury with lots of illegals for a spell. for the lowest of the low, if thats considered merit, it would have been pleasing to have no regs. im guessing u had a weekly allowance and didnt have to worry bout that stuff. probably thought it was good to pity people like me. i didnt want it. didnt care about such things. i just wanted to work and get what i want in an honest mutual fashion. nothing is worse than faking friends with a rich douche kid becuase he would by your friendship with ninja turtles. and what seemed rich was probably jsut middle class but relativity is the key.
- ukit20
Sure but what happens once lower wages become the norm.
You should read this book if you want to know what the US was like with no minimum wage and no regulations
- i may have to check it. but when did minimum wages become the norm? and how do they reflect global markets?********
- yea i think i will check it out. at least not from a perspective of where i come from but where u come from********
- but seems liek it promotes the things that held me back so i doubt ill like it.********
- Either way it is interesting to look at that period since it was the last time of completely unchecked/ unregulated capitalismukit2
- capitalism. There was also strong socialist and anarchist movements in the U.S. at the timeukit2
- yea might be interesting. if anything i cant say i wouldnt learn anything********
- wow, so educated, I read The Jungle in 8th grade. It's more of a highlight on how the meat industry was so bad at time.********

Heres a question ukit. based on the quick summary of the book and its value system. How do u feel about oppressing people? It seems to promote a level of oppression for those who choose to work under a standard of those who thinks its intolerable. Likely focuses not on the ones who are working without envy of others, but those who want the unearned. What gives one the right to force oppression on such people? Sure you hope for the best and its easy not being a part of it. But how do u sleep knowing youre condemning people to live by your standards and rules, which is likely out of guilt for having more. Take me for example i would have to be the lowest of the low wanting free markets and trying to work for it while being kicked for it. How does this help those who want to earn there way and not those who just want? but i havent read it so just going off summaries and knowledge of the tonality.

- think its a philosophical question of who decides what is the best for the greater good which ive never persoanlly been able to accept
- ukit20
I think the difference is Im looking at it from the view of what is the systematic effect on the entire society. Evidence shows that where there is no minimum wage companies are able to drive salaries down and poor get poorer, standard of living drops. It shifts the balance of power in society towards those people who control the means of production.
Ironically I think that's the same approach the people behind Herman Cain's proposal are taking. It's not like they are standing on some principle of individual rights, they see it as a simple calculus for them as more money for their businesses, and less for workers.
- i think a large differnce is the perceptions of truth in the first paragraph********
- i would disagree as a whole not in sectors. i think more wages went up than down.********

I agree with you there. I could completely see companies and dirty rascal corporations taking advantage at this time of a drastic deregulation. Especially the way Cain is.
Im speculative on the wealth disparity of labor and business in free markets. Clearly regions of labor and dirty wealth could create problems. But no more than has been created it seems. History seems to show wages have climbed not in all areas but a majority with free markets and labor. And usually the markets fixed the distortions of dickheads. A wealth gap probably would increase since the nature of money and investments. But it would be far slower than it has been with the printing of money and handing it off to groups to hire labor on the cheap while pocketing the rest. Plus the rich who fucked up wouldnt be bailed out and thos ewho succeeded would get the money benefiting the rest. Disparity aside most everyone livlihood would increase. The concerns of monopolies are existant but there really hasnt been any.
I still look at world as symbiotic with labor and production. The rich cant function without labor, The labor has more power of force. A free system seems to benefit all equally. Its in everyone best interests to pursue their own goals. And the cunt corps who fuck up will get there deserts instead of bailouts. Any losses will condition the public to be more responsible in who they support and such.
And inflating our labor cost of living outside the global markets, which was fine before large global markets seemed in our best interests. But seems we're now lagging behind like record labels. We need to except the idea that things have changed and our profit margins wont be the same. Need to free up labor to choose and get some labor demand for those who are hungry. Generally speaking lots of issues with different sectors for sure.
Fuck Cain im just playing with the idea on a personal level growing up. He seems like one of the dickheads to me that id liek to see get his jsut deserts. But i dont know with assurance of how it would work out. Jut have assurance in continuing the same methods of distortions it wont be healthy
- as cain proposes it id be adamant against it. but i like the idea********

"History seems to show wages have climbed not in all areas but a majority with free markets and labor"
I think this is the problem for me, history doesn't really show that. Look at the last 30 years of deregulation/ lower taxes and the corresponding decrease in wages. Compare to 50s-60s period that was more socialistic and had higher standards of living.
Of course you could always claim any problem is due to government or other effects but I'm waiting to be convinced by evidence rather than just belief or philosophy. WHere is the example of country that adopted libertarian economic system and what were the effects on wages and standard of living.
- Otherwise you are just arguing abstract philosophy. It would be like trying to prove physics based only on theory and no real world experimentsukit2
- real world experimentsukit2
- pretty busy today have to get back later on it. See if i can find some good examples and clarify wages vs quality/life and buying power.********
- buying power. General and specific. And reasons why 50-60s higher and see if it was simply do to money volume.********
