Politics and the media feed off scandal. This politician who showed his crotch on twitter did it for the distraction factor but everyone talks about him like he's really that stupid, like this is a serious issue. It doesn't matter if he loses some imaginary form of credibility he's done his job.

Is it just me, or does damned near every prominent politician engage in self destructive behavior? Maybe they've always behaved this way, but sensationalist news stories are too tempting to the mainstream media. The amazing part to me is that every single one tries to lie until the evidence is just too strong to refute. By the way, Bill Maher just minutes before reading the above transcripts was saying he didn't want to keep talking about Congressman Weiner's woes. Ratings mean too much i suppose.

i'd imagine it applies toward other risky behaviors as well. Gaining power, in any degree, gives you a sense of security, it seems, makes you focus more on the benefits of a good outcome to behaviors rather than the risk of a bad outcome. Maybe it's that with that power, one believes they can surmount any sort of difficulties that may come their way if things turn sour.

1) "Yes a very serious problem. And it's hitting hardest the small business men and the families they support."
2) "The answer is to lower taxes for everyone, but especially for business so they can afford to hire more workers."
This is the same two answers they have given to these questions since 1980. It doesn't work, but they keep saying it and people keep believing them. Of course they consider Walmart a "small business" but they don't tell you that, they let you think they mean the corner grocer who pays the two guys who work for him in cash under the table.
