This was an interesting story about a study on power and infidelity

i'd imagine it applies toward other risky behaviors as well. Gaining power, in any degree, gives you a sense of security, it seems, makes you focus more on the benefits of a good outcome to behaviors rather than the risk of a bad outcome. Maybe it's that with that power, one believes they can surmount any sort of difficulties that may come their way if things turn sour.
