ha i caught a little soundbyte on stewart about a alvin greene. stewart entertained me covering multiple theories and some videoclips. i think its a great democratic example of party influences and peoples ignorance and im interested to see how the media plays this one off on party angles. how does one PR something this ridiculous.

    • care to clarify that last sentence, do i need a decoder ring?BonSeff
    • how does one use public realtions to paint this in a good or bad way

HOW DO YOU BUILD AN INFORMATION HIGHWAY?
    September 16, 1991

    http://www.businessweek.com/arch…

In 1955, a Democratic senator from Tennessee named Albert Gore spearheaded legislation to criss-cross the nation with interstate highways to secure the nation's defense and build its economy. Thirty-six years later, his son is back at it. Senator Albert Gore Jr. (D-Tenn.) wants the nation to build a whole new kind of highway system: an "information superhighway" with lanes made of glass fibers and cloverleafs of silicon.

Gore, a Presidential candidate in 1988, envisions this supernetwork as the first step in creating a new infrastructure--for a new Information Economy. His bill, the High Performance Computing Act, would fund research in how to manage and use superfast computers and networks. But, with its huge capacity to move bits of computer and video data nearly instantly across the country, the network also will serve as a proving ground for the type of national network that Gore and other advocates say is feeded for the U. S. economy to be competitive. A national data superhighway would speed all sorts of transactions, give corporations a better handle on their businesses, and serve up dazzling entertainment and information services for consumers.

"I think it will enable this country to leapfrog the Japanese," says Gore.

It's not looking good when these guys are ragging on the chosen one!!!
Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman react to President Obama's Oval Office Address on the oil spill. Here are the highlights of what the trio said:

Olbermann: "It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days."

    Matthews compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: "Nothing specific at all was said."

    Matthews: "No direction."

Howard Fineman: "He wasn't specific enough."

Olbermann: "I don't think he aimed low, I don't think he aimed at all. It's startling."

Howard Fineman: Obama should be acting like a "commander-in-chief."

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. "I'll barf if he does it one more time."

Matthews: "A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk."

Matthews: "I don't sense executive command."

And the HITS keep on coming.....

The BBC reports of Barack Obama’s speech last night are about as derisive as it would be possible to be about someone you were describing only a few months ago as the incarnation of Hope and Optimism. Yes indeed, the romance is over. The British media have decided that it was all a cruel deception: Obama is just one more ranting populist president who will do anything to divert attention from his own failure to get a grip. And this is not just about BP and the fate of all those pension funds.

    • Yes, because the British voted in the US election....TheBlueOne
    • Did you call China's dismissal of Bush as "THE DREAM IS OVER FUCKSTICKS!" I missed it if you did.TheBlueOne
  • TheBlueOne0

I like how all these rightwing douchatards frame Obama the "Chosen One" and then pretend that somehow those who voted for him gave him that definition, and then use it as a starting point for their rhetoric. Perfect circle jerk.

Ah, the wonders of "magical thinking"....no wonder reality proves a continual challenge to you guys.

Please, continue to not actually try to do anything to make the world better, and address real problems, just continue on your merry adventure in stroking your ego about how "right you are" about something that is of little longterm consequence.

Right now there's a fellow lying in a grave about how "right" he was about Lincoln freeing the slaves. Didn't change a fucking thing.

Wake up and realize all the people making money off prolonging the problems in our society without fixing them.

You are their mindless foot soldier. They maintain their position, while you get some dopamine via Fox News telling you that you are a special little snowflake.

Now, tell me more about the pics of my mother's twat, because that's obviously the adult thing to do, Wil.

It's not really worth quoting Rasmussen, since he uses a totally different metric than pretty much every other pollster out there. I mean get this, it was only when Obama moved in the White House that he started using this completely unprecedented "Strongly Approve"/ "Strongly Disapprove" approach, instead of just the "Approve" and "Disapprove" he used for Bush, Clinton, and every other President. Suspicious at all?

Gallup's numbers today are much more typical.

    Approve 49%
    Disapprove 44%

    • The truth is, even if his numbers are down, there still pretty damn good numbers!

I think it's perfectly fine to criticize the President for a lackluster speech, normally given at times when the country looks especially to the office for leadership and strength. He's catching it from all sides exactly for that void right now. A large criticism from the right has been his inability to lead in times of national crisis. That he has a great ability to orate is undeniable. This was one of those time it was almost perfect for him to do so. I don't think many believe he really accomplished anything near that last night. Not at all.

    • That criticism from the Right started before he was in office.TheBlueOne
  • ukit0

Meh, honestly I really couldn't care and I think most people don't, what kind of speech he gives. Like I posted in the BP thread, if people expect some kind of magical solution to this, they are kidding themselves. It's not gonna get fixed until late summer, IF THEN. And it will be BP digging a containment wall to fix it as has worked in the past.

    • they actually do care. and the dems elected him from his speaking ability, not governing ability.zenmasterfoo
    • Actually it had a lot to do with Iraq and not wanting the Clintons back in powerukit

The right wing response is unreasonable and a no-win.
They want him to be tougher but want to cut his balls off in regulating business in any way, shape or form. It is designed to be a no-win by the RNC.

    • Fuck-wad its the left thats been most critical of him lately!
