U.S. Democratic Rep. Raúl Grijalva is closing his Tucson and Yuma offices today at noon because of what he said were multiple death threats and threats of violence.
Police are stationed outside his Tucson office, according to a statement from spokesman Adam Sarvana.
Sarvana said the office received “some pretty scary calls,” including two from the same person, he said, “who threatened to go down there and blow everyone’s brains out then go to the border to shoot Mexicans.”
Yeah awesome direction you guys are taking this country in!!! Racist idiots.

What regime was famous for that little act? I think it went something like this: "Show me your papers, der Jude! Schnell! Schnell!"Utterly fucking beyond irony.
The party that is all about being against the "Anti-Constitutional fascist takeover of Obama" is having fucking orgasms over passing a law requiring people to produce papers when confronted by Authorities.
Oh and what is in the Constituition that you love?
"Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. Ratified 12/15/1791.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated..."Don't you teabaggers have little pamphlets with the Constitution in it that you wave around at your little rallies? Or do you not bother to read the fucking thing.
Sure, so, you think the 2nd amendment justifies you to shoot police officers if they come for your weapons, but the 4th doesn't protect people who aren't your color or sound like you?
My god, fuck you all.

Let’s play a game, shall we? The name of the game is called “Imagine.” The way it’s played is simple: we’ll envision recent happenings in the news, but then change them up a bit. Instead of envisioning white people as the main actors in the scenes we’ll conjure - the ones who are driving the action - we’ll envision black folks or other people of color instead. The object of the game is to imagine the public reaction to the events or incidents, if the main actors were of color, rather than white. Whoever gains the most insight into the workings of race in America, at the end of the game, wins.
So let’s begin.
Imagine that hundreds of black protesters were to descend upon Washington DC and Northern Virginia, just a few miles from the Capitol and White House, armed with AK-47s, assorted handguns, and ammunition. And imagine that some of these protesters —the black protesters — spoke of the need for political revolution, and possibly even armed conflict in the event that laws they didn’t like were enforced by the government? Would these protester — these black protesters with guns — be seen as brave defenders of the Second Amendment, or would they be viewed by most whites as a danger to the republic? What if they were Arab-Americans? Because, after all, that’s what happened recently when white gun enthusiasts descended upon the nation’s capital, arms in hand, and verbally announced their readiness to make war on the country’s political leaders if the need arose.
Imagine that white members of Congress, while walking to work, were surrounded by thousands of angry black people, one of whom proceeded to spit on one of those congressmen for not voting the way the black demonstrators desired. Would the protesters be seen as merely patriotic Americans voicing their opinions, or as an angry, potentially violent, and even insurrectionary mob? After all, this is what white Tea Party protesters did recently in Washington....
Imagine that black protesters at a large political rally were walking around with signs calling for the lynching of their congressional enemies. Because that’s what white conservatives did last year, in reference to Democratic party leaders in Congress.
In other words, imagine that even one-third of the anger and vitriol currently being hurled at President Obama, by folks who are almost exclusively white, were being aimed, instead, at a white president, by people of color. How many whites viewing the anger, the hatred, the contempt for that white president would then wax eloquent about free speech, and the glories of democracy? And how many would be calling for further crackdowns on thuggish behavior, and investigations into the radical agendas of those same people of color?
To ask any of these questions is to answer them. Protest is only seen as fundamentally American when those who have long had the luxury of seeing themselves as prototypically American engage in it. When the dangerous and dark “other” does so, however, it isn’t viewed as normal or natural, let alone patriotic. Which is why Rush Limbaugh could say, this past week, that the Tea Parties are the first time since the Civil War that ordinary, common Americans stood up for their rights: a statement that erases the normalcy and “American-ness” of blacks in the civil rights struggle, not to mention women in the fight for suffrage and equality, working people in the fight for better working conditions, and LGBT folks as they struggle to be treated as full and equal human beings.
And this, my friends, is what white privilege is all about. The ability to threaten others, to engage in violent and incendiary rhetoric without consequence, to be viewed as patriotic and normal no matter what you do, and never to be feared and despised as people of color would be, if they tried to get away with half the shit we do, on a daily basis.
Game Over.

And to follow up...because the argument will be "The Constitution is for citizens, not illegals..."
Really? Then why are the same people who don't want to enforce the spirit of the Constitution on American soil the same dipshits that insisted we should enforce the thrill of living under such a fantastic system of law in Middle Eastern lands under gunpoint? "You'll like our style of Freedom or die..."
I'm sorry. I think the Right is going to fucking far.
I'm no fan of Obama, or the mostly status quo milktoast centerism he represents, but I'll take that status quo over the insane actual really-real bullshit these no-nothing proud-of-their-ignorance rigthwing teabag fuckers, their shadow corporate sponsors and the really really radical rightwing fringe groups mulling about their edges want.
The Republicans actually think riding this wave is going to bring them some sort of miraculous election victory come November.
Here's how I see it. If they just let Obama waffle along and kept up their usual media character assasinations, then maybe, just maybe, they would of actually gained a significant number of seats. Alot of Obama voters are actually disillusioned by the guy (raises hand)...but the same Obama voters were tired of the shit sandwich the Republicans have beed serving up for the last thirty years and if the Republicans think that serving up a sandwich with more shit on it with extra crazy sauce isn't going to motivate enough people to go to the polls to keep their sorry asses away form the levers of power they will be sadly disappointed.
If you asked me six months ago would I be voting come November, I'd waffle. Contribute to the dems, hah. Do some work for liberal causes. Nope. Now? Anything to make sure that the same dipshits behind the teabaggers and these morons in Arizona from spearheading a comeback will motivate me far more than some vague notion of "change and hope".

^So I was reading around the blogs in the aftermath of this Arizona clusterfuck. What I posted above was the "most recommended" story from Daily Kos, biggest liberal blog. Pretty thoughtful piece IMO. People always complain that I don't give the right enough credit though, so let's be fair. Here's the most popular piece currently on Redstate, one of the biggest conservative sites.
http://www.redstate.com/vassar/2…
It’s time this imperious president is smacked down. Really.
"Since the passage of the Health Care bill, President Obama’s sense of himself has risen and risen. He struts and poses. He’s just one quart short of speaking of himself in the third person. Just a week or so ago, after Gov Bob McDonnell made that gaffe about Confederate History Month, Obama said he found it “unacceptable”. I nearly leaped out of my chair, i was so angry. How dare he? I made a little noise here, but was surprised to see that no one else did. Here or anywhere else. I don’t care, it simply is not within the authority of the President of the United States to find the conduct of any elected official of any sovereign state in America “unacceptable”. He assumed a pay grade, by God, he ain’t got.
Since then, as the days have progressed, almost daily, we have been treated to a rising scale of regal pronouncements that he will or will not “accept” or “allow”, perhaps forgetting that even on his best days, he represents only one third of the government...at least as the Constitution sees it. Bill Clinton would have been happy as a mere satrap, with a bevy of dancing girls, but this guy really sees well beyond.
For me, the final kicker came today, while telling the Wall Street world that he favors free markets, he would not allow “risk taking”. With Obama, I no longer hold out that this sort of oxymoronic language can be attributed to stupidity or naivete. But it is much more than mere arrogance. It is imperiousness, not on the rise, but incarnate, fully formed. He has crossed over.
And the taste for it needs to be slapped right out of his mouth..."
OK, so maybe that wasn't so thoughtful. I mean, let's not split hairs, this cunt uses every word in the book except the one he obviously wants to use, uppity n*gger.
I'm trying to figure out what he's so pissed about. I mean, really, he's THAT mad that Obama summons up as subcommandante says above, a milquetoast amount of anger towards Wall Street, after all the shit they pulled. Apparently this is where the conservatives are right now though, half racist acting out, half not-so-veiled incitement to violence, allegedly based off of this delusional paranoia of a government takeover - but we all know what really motivates it. Read through the comments and you're treated to a scintillating argument over whether slaveholders in the Civil War should have been compensated for their slaves.
OK, I'm back to being "partisan" again. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

GO GET 'EM TEABAGGERS! or PUT UP OR SHUT UP, PATRIOTS...
"We don’t have an “immigration” problem in America. We have an immigration solution. Illegal immigrants are the solution for corporations that want to get around those pesky labor laws that we have in America. Illegal immigrants make it possible for Purdue to sell you chicken for $1.99 per pound. If they had to pay a living wage and cover benefit costs for their employees the way federal labor laws mandate, you would be paying $6.99 per pound for that same chicken. If you want to eliminate the flood of immigrants into this country, the most effective way to do that is to have mandatory jail time for anyone that employs illegal immigrants. If the CEO of Purdue does twenty years in prison for hiring thousands of illegal immigrants, I can assure you that the CEO of WalMart would make a strong effort to make sure that he doesn’t suffer the same fate. If there were no jobs here for illegal immigrants, they would stop coming. It’s really that simple. The fact that we don’t go after the employers is evidence that our government doesn’t want to stop the “problem”. It’s a system that’s working very well for everybody. Corporations get to maximize their profits by exploiting second class non-citizens, consumers get cheap goods, and the government doesn’t have to worry about millions of people claiming their social security benefits after a lifetime of service to this country. And as an added bonus, low income Americans get to hate a class that they deem to be beneath them. They don’t have to be the bottom of the American food chain the way they would be if the eyelegals weren’t here.
But I digress. My point in this post speaks to the tea party movement, a noble group of Americans that has picked up the fight against a tyrannical government takeover of our country. I expect that they’re going to be out en masse to protest this most intrusive of big government laws. GO GET EM, tea party! You must be seething with anger over what Arizona has done here. Time to protect America from the Arizonan SS officers and restore our freedom.
As an added bonus, you get to dispel all of the baseless allegations of racism that have been hurled at you by the liberal media. I understand that you’ve gotten a bad rap because of a handful of extremists that seem to have a knack for being in front of every camera that has ever been present at any tea party you’ve ever held. But guess what? You have an opportunity to prove the lame stream media wrong, and shut them down once and for all.
You get to wage a just war and restore your good name. What’s not to love about that?
So you go get em, tea party! Show the world that you won’t put up with big government, while showing them that you’re tea partiers, rather than the teabaggers they’ve made you out to be."

^^
"Time to protect America from the Arizonan SS officers and restore our freedom."Why doesn't anyone say shit about Mexico and their ridiculous pile-of-shit third world environment and shotty criminal controlled / scared-of Government?
Why are MILLIONS pouring over the southern border each year... yet not the northern border?
Nobody ever talks about that... all I'm hearing is how bad our own Government is in handling an obvious problem... which is turned into cries of racism for the most part w/out any regard for the truth of the Government to the south AND WHY so many are bailing Mexico and heading north.
I live in Arizona... there is daily news of illegal immigrant criminal action... ranchers being murdered... gang wars crossing the border to the states etc etc... but you NEVER hear or read that in much of the mainstream news... ... all I hear is what a bunch of white redneck racists Americans are... now specifically Arizonians.
Approx. 30% of the inmates in this country... are not legal citizens of this country... ... just another shitty fact to choke on.
One other thing - living in AZ ...the legal immigrants I know in this state (Mexican and other countries) are pretty fed up w/following the rules (jumping through some serious hoops just to live here) while loads make their way here w/out any care for said rules.
Stop calling racism... be a bit rational - look at the numbers and do the math... and... be annoyed w/Mexico's sorry excuse for a Government. They need to get their shit together.
- ukit0
How fucking ironic is it though that the same people who are bitching and moaning about the gov taking their "freedoms"...are now applauding a law that gives the government the right to stop you based on the way you look. Either you stand on principle or you don't. No one argues there isn't a serious problem, and you're right the media turns a blind eye for some reason, but there are other, better ways to solve it than giving cops that much power.
Seems like these right wingers are fine with freedoms being taken...as long as it affects someone else and not themselves.
- PonyBoy0
I'm skeptical on how the 'power' will be used.
If anything... it'll weed out the dickhead cops of Arizona.
But here's the thing - do you think cops are just going to start pulling folks over cuz they look Hispanic? You're nuts if you think that. :)
Traffic would stop if that were the case...
... the way I see this law being actually USEFUL is when cops pull folks over and they can't speak a touch of English or provide any real ID... ... and this is a rather common occurrence.
Also - I can't find an stats at the moment... but a massive part of AZ's police force... is Hispanic. ;)
---
Perhaps hardcore bills like this wouldn't be necessary if our own Government grew a set of balls and put some mad pressure on Mexico's shitty Gov instead of calling their own 'legal' citizens racist.
- ********0
Perhaps hardcore bills like this wouldn't be necessary if our own Government grew a set of balls and put some mad pressure on corporations that higher illegals to cut costs. Perhaps hardcore bills like this if America had a sane drug policy. Perhaps hardcore bills like this are just fucking fascist and shouldn't be passed at all.
And all the fucking little smiley face emoticons does nothing to make swallowing this totally shitty, fucking insane, anti-American bill any easier, funnier to better.
The only people this bill is useful for is the attorneys that will rack up huge fees when American citizens, illegally arrested will sue AZ back to the fuckign stone age.
And geez, I thought Republicans hated lawsuits. They have an incredible knack for creating situations in which they not only happen, but they happen on a massive scale.
But then again, when that happens they'll just use this to rail against attorneys, activist judges and "dysfunctional" government.

"do you think cops are just going to start pulling folks over cuz they look Hispanic? You're nuts if you think that."
Well call me nuts then, cause I think that is exactly the point. Let's put this in perspective, I see a bunch of Hispanic guys hanging out on the corner near where my office is almost every day. They stand on this one corner and wait until a guy drives up in a truck offering some of them work.
I guarantee you a bunch of these cats are here illegally. The cops probably suspect that as well, but what can they do? Cops don't have the right to stop you based on nothing more than the way you look - until now.
There's a twisted kind of logic at work here - yes, it will result in more illegals being detained, but at the same time it's absolutely founded in racial profiling and racism. And you are giving the cop virtually unlimited power there, because the criteria are so murky.
But this is totally the wrong way to do it. Any law enforcement problem can be "solved" by giving the cops more power, but it's a fuckin slippery slope my friend. A slippery fuckin slope.
Also keep in mind this bill was written by the same AZ Congress that passed a law requiring all candidates to prove they were born in the U.S....hmmm wonder what that was all about. No racial motive there I'm sure.
- PonyBoy0
totally agree w/you sub on our own internal regulations needing adjustment so there would be an end to the hiring of illegal cheep labor...
... as for the drug policy - yep... I agree again. Mexico is what South America (Columbia and the like) was in the 80's... but it's just that much closer.
<emoticon break>
:) ;) :D
</emoticon break>
I'd love to see drugs legalized yet highly regulated (taxed at least... regardless of usage)... ...prohibition was a waste of time last century... it's been nearly 100 years and we still can't learn from that history?I appreciate you not going the route of screaming 'racism' btw... that's not the case of what's happening here... at all. If you guys could only hear some of the clips of actual Hispanic citizens who are tired of the issue and their previous government's inability to create a stable honest environment.
