Welcome to Amerika, where life is a privilege and healthcare is a right.
- *stares in wonder at blue grass and green skygramme
- in this day and age they are both rightseieio
- should be anywayeieio
- I understand that point of view, but I would argue that healthcare is a privilege.gramme
- The list of things we imagine we're entitled to has grown astronomically in this country.gramme
- yes, take care of those already born into this world as a right. Being born into this world - hey, mommy forgot the pill and daddy was drunkKhurram
- daddy was too drunk to put rubber on.Khurram
- and healthcare has been fought for as a right in the US, just like most of the world, for 100 yearsKhurram
- at the apotheosis of industrialisation. Just like the right to education. It has only ever expanded.Khurram
- though you might also think only those who can afford to pay for education should have education.Khurram
- and the rest should get an education so they can have the money to pay for education. ftwKhurram
- The church sure makes
it sound like a privilege...utopian - What would Jesus do? What he be against a law that says insurance companies can't drop people?ukit

Steve King (R-IA):
I just came down here so I could say to you, God bless you. ... You are the awesome American people...If I could start a country with a bunch of people, they’d be the folks who were standing with us the last few days. Let’s hope we don’t have to do that! Let’s beat that other side to a pulp! Let’s take them out. Let’s chase them down. There’s going to be a reckoning!

It has always been about expanded insurance coverage.. but the right has spun it every which way, talking about death panels and shit like that, calling it obamacare.. and just now you chime in with "correct me if i'm wrong but this is not Health Care its some sort of massive insurance growth plan by way of government"
that is fucking laughable.
- holy suck man thats a lot of shit for agreeing with meeieio
- why the fuck does everyone call this HealthCare constantly in the media and this thread ?eieio
- I'm not so sure its as obvious to everyone else as us geniuses ... dumbasseieio

Hmmmm, so when you fuckers are, I dunno, 45, 50, 65...whatever and, you go to the doctor and get the news that you have cancer, or some other horrible, expensive to treat disease...
Are you STILL at that point gonna be pissed that Obama passed a law that says you can't be dropped by an insurance company? And that removes the limit on what they will spend on treating you?
Are you gonna be sitting in your hospital bed with your government-guaranteed insurance, watching a geriatric Rush Limbaugh on your iPad and seething with rage that Obama forced doctors to give you medical treatment?
Will you be rolling down to tea parties in your wheelchair with the fucking IV stuck in your arm, waving around a handdrawn sign with multiple words spelled wrong, all so you can protest the fact that insurance companies don't have the right to drop from coverage?
I am LOLing out loud at the thought of you dim-witted bastards lying there in your hospital bed clutching a copy of Atlas Shrugged while reforms Obama enacted years earlier actually end up prolonging or saving your life.

Obama's presidency does not effect my life frankly because I ain't american. Last time I checked forced insurance coverage is not universal health care...but I guess you inbreds are taking baby steps now so I'll see you when I'm 65

There are plenty of countries that have "universal health care" provided through a market mechanism. What this law creates is a system on the more limited end of that scale but it is still universal coverage. Health insurance reform directly relates to health care because it's how you get health care.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uni…
Kinda funny, it now says "Before March 21, 2010, the United States was the only industrialized country that had no universal health care system..."

I love it, everytime you teabaggers don't have an answer to something your brain automatically falls back on your unhealthy obsession with gayness.
So basically you're saying you have no answer to the simple question I posed. Pretty weak sauce there.

You are pathetic and sad examples of what America has become.
BonSeff, are you an American, or one of those French fags?

gramme, i am interested in what those who can't afford healthcare should do, if, in your view, they shouldn't have affordable healthcare offered to them by way of the govt.
And if that's not what you meant, what DID you mean by essentially saying that healthcare should not be thought of as a right?
Personally, i could share that view (that it's a privilege) as long as it's understood that it's a privilege that should be attainable to anyone, regardless of your income bracket.
