Why the nastiness? I thought Left-Wingers were supposed to actually care about their fellow man?schizo
- TBO and I are involved in an ongoing feud don't you know. But you and I aren't, so why the foulness?********
- GR, you need to realize that you're being far more 'foul' than most on here. Stop playing the victim. I know how it is whentommyo
- pretty much everyone disagrees with you, trust me I do. But you need to be more grown up about it. Cheers.tommyo
- Am I missing something here??? The name calling started by them, not I.********

NOTE TO SELF!
The Republicans have lost their fascist control of the Senate, Congress and White House, now go away and stop whining.
*Go fight one of your wars, beat-up some fags, bailout corporate America, lynch some brothers, or renew your NRA memberships.
- ukit0
Seriously, name ONE thing the Republicans accomplished during the 8 years they controlled the government. Just a single thing.
No? OK, now STFU:)
- Well a) lots of charity spending in Africa and b) drove the world economy into the shitter. So it's like win-win.TheBlueOne

what do you say about the chest pounding claim that there were no terrorist acts after 9/11 in the U.S?
- Minus all the rhetoric surrounding this fact, it is true. Are the wars going to bring future possible attacks? Dunno.tommyo
- i never bought it, I put Mall shooting and VTech in terrorist attack categoryBattleAxe
- This is entirely false. Everyone seems to forget about the Anthrax attack which occurred after 9/11.IRNlun6

There have also been no cities destroyed since Katrina. I guess Bush did a great job protecting us from hurricanes too!
- designbot0
Well I can speak for only myself and say I'm not a republican. Never voted for Bush, and didn't vote for McCain. I tend to lean towards the conservative side on some fundamental issues (like abortion), but that's about it. I support limited government as outlined in the Constitution. Pretty much the opposite of what Obama has been doing since he became president. Though I suppose Bush was just as guilty of this (expanding gov't)

A list of GWB accomplishments, although some may not be agreeable to you, Sir ukit.- Seriously, why do you rirghtwingers always link to rightwing sites?TheBlueOne

Special election in New York today - a district that is 41% Republican and 27% Democrat, and it's tied, amazingly.
"Democrats have found their winning issue -- namely, Murphy has built his own brand by tying himself to the very popular President Obama, and support for the stimulus package, at just about every step of the race."
- You're either "with" Obama, or you'll pay the price down the road? That's just great.********

Yes, thank you, George Bush, for "reintroducing the mention of God and faith into public discourse." That was definitely missing in our country!;)
- ukit I agree ... the Social Conservatism turns me off very quickly.tommyo
- There you go again ukit. Finding fault comes much too easy for you.********

^^ I'm kind of the same as designbot. I'm not a Republican, I am a conservative though and I think the separation of Republicans and Conservatives are becoming more and more distant. However, to act like the Democrats are a virtuous party who's been sitting on the back burner fighting for their chance to make this country whole again is fucking laughable. Bush was horrible, that's a fact. But just looking at the last 2 months of this administrations decisions, I'm pretty sure we're in for a long and bumpy ride. The nationalization stuff scares the crap out of me. IMO they're using the current economy as a power grab much like the Republicans did after 9/11.

- I think you can see my point, but Bush definitely tried to capitalize on "faith" and win Christians over.designbot

- If they're still teaching separation of church and state in gov class .. I can see why the kids are failing. :-Ptommyo
- Without some kind of objective moral standard, we are doomed.designbot
- They don't teach comprehensive gov/us history in k-8 anymore. It's quite sad.********

"#3 Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks."
HAHAHAHA!!! Nothing reality based there, eh?
"#9Passed tough new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals."
Oh yeah. Great accomplishment there.

that bush list is epic

Look, I love how you draw arbitrary lines. Get it clear. I am not a democrat, never have been, never will be. So stop mistaking me for one. I don't give a flying fuck about Clinton this, Bush that, I try to look at longer, deeper trends in politics, economics and society.
GR you try the little Republican dance there with the "Clinton Internet Bubble & festering and growing corporate mis-governance (Enron.." Um, a) to peg that all on Clinton is silly, and I can easily say "What about the S&L crisis under Reagen before that!" If I want to play the little left-right game you like.
Truth is, the entire financial system has been heading for collapse over the last 30 years because of dumbass policies form BOTH parties - which basically consisted of blowing up bubbles, and when one blows up, manipulate monetary policy to create a new buibble before the last one can pan out.
This last Real Estate bubble is mostly thanks to Bush's dumbass lowering of interest rates to practically zero. Once you get there you can no longer use interest rates to do anything, unless
Besides the corporate greed, government mismanagement and corruption vis-a-vis the financial sector from both parties, truth is Bush doubled down on everything to re-bubble up the economy after 9-11 with dumb ass monetary AND fiscal policies plus emptying the coffers to pay for one and possibly two useless wars. He did all this for appearances with no relation to anything in reality and wow, it blew up. Surprise. It was going to happen eventually, Bush just put the throttle down and drove it into a wall.

I think it would be better if we could all agree that Bush was a fucking jaggoff. I think the only one here outside the ring of enlightenment is GR. Mr. Refresh can you please step back and take a good long sober look at Bush and try to see that he sucked donkey balls? Big big sweaty donkey balls complete with flies and a pussy abscess.
- Maybe I should have said 'puss filled abscess'? 'Pussy abscess' is not the same thing is it?tommyo
- I agree. But the rest of the government was also wholly sucking donkey balls as well, imo.********
- < I agree. Everyone pegs the failure on him when allllllll of congress should have stopped his punk ass.tommyo
- That was the big failure of the democrats as an opposition party during those years. Utter failure.TheBlueOne

Republics die when:
a) Corporate interests trump the common good
b) When you get a standing professional army
c) When you get wealth concentrated in too few hands (and the corruption that that brings - the best government you can buy)
d) when you start to lose social mobilityNow, all of these have been going on for the last 58 years, more or less, accelerating in time. This is a trend, and not neccessarily the reult of one person or one parties actions, although both parties have been guilty of pushing it further along.
Bush II pushed the entire apple cart over the cliff.
Obama? I have no clue about this guy. I like his appeals to the common good, and don't mind government money spent on education, health care, etc. But on the flip side he's done nothing except seemingly appease the financial class so far, which really, really pisses me off. I'm giving him the slight benefit of the doubt that maybe he's playing a longer game here and trying to manage the obvious decline of the market while trying to limit the social pain. Not sure if that's feasible and he's going to eat up all his political capital in the process...

Would the GOP be in the position it's in now if it wasn't for Bush? The lack of support from his own party is enough to illustrate his failed presidency. Whether you like him or not...
- 50/50. The GOP is a weird amalgamtion of interests. Demographics alone might be against them.TheBlueOne
- I see your point...IRNlun6
