GetRefresh..
i haven't seen you mention a single thing about the 10's of thousands of workers who are about to lose their jobs if there isn't proper restructuring of the business, or the 10's of billions of dollars that tax payers (including auto-workers) that have been paid over to these companies.
do these issues not concern you?
can you make the link between corporate restrucring and chaning leadership?

I believe in the institution of bankruptcy filing, not government take over. It's sad that some of the automobile manufacturer management are perhaps mis-managing their businesses, but to have the government perform a take over is absolutely wrong.
So far as the tax payers dollars go, last I checked, I HAD NO VOTE in approving this money, DID YOU? And, as for the good folks that may be out of a job, YES, this concerns me somewhat, however, lot's of us are out of jobs right now, and/or business is very, very slow.
Finally, forget India's ways, this is America— a great country, for a reason.
P.s: TheBlueOne, happy Monday.

yes , join the line is what I would tell all folks who lost there jobs because their bosses were a bunch of greedy pricks ,
no business is to big to fail , and whatever the "catastrophe" would be , bring it we need it, we need a punch in the mouth to wake us the fuck up ,
I have family that has lost homes, jobs, had to relocate to other cities even other countries to get paid ; so Michigan cry me a fucking river
- I've had friends also lose their jobs, and homes. They aren't crying and whining by the way. Just life.********

"as the tax payers dollars go, last I checked, I HAD NO VOTE in approving this money"
Am I missing something here...from a quick glance at the story it looks like the government REJECTED giving the autos another bailout.
- Isn't that what conservatives want, or are you just against anything Obama does?ukit

let me be clear.
you are willing to let the company go bust along with the 10's of thousands of jobs because you think government intervention "is wrong".
- ********0
^ Yes I do.
What about Circuit City going bust? Should we have bailed them out? Thousands of people lost their jobs there. Or, what about Gottschalks, which operates 58 stores? Or, Ann Taylor, Sears and Talbots who may be heading toward filing bankruptcy?
Or what about all of the star-up, small, medium and large businesses shutting their doors in various industries? Bail them out too??
The bottom line is, that millions of people have lost or WILL BE losing their jobs, so, should they all get a hand-out also?

I'm with you on this GetRefresh. Time to wake up.

ok, stop spending.
then what?
- ********0
Spending is o.k., I support spending. One must "spend money to make money", however, SPENDING ON WHAT should be the question, and real concern of this administration.
And, Obama INSISTS that if we don't reform healthcare, and kick-start the "green economy", that the "American Recovery" Act, TARP, Omnibus etc., may not realize their combined full affect.
This is financial hostage taking. Fear mongering. Call it whatever, or sugar coat however you like.
IMO, it too much spending, in MOST of the wrong places.
- lowimpakt0
where would you spend?
- VERY good question. Let me think about that for a bit.********

- designbot0
Your missing a crucial point, we don't have the money to spend.
"spend money to make money" only applies if you ACTUALLY have the money to begin with.
- True, but SOME spending is ok, and warranted. Spending $Bs and $Ts without knowing what your spending on...********
- ... is outrageous. Let's remember, government approved TARP spending without even reading the bill.********

so what is to be done?

Defense contracts and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

"then what?"
is the trillion dollar question , all we hear is that if we do not spend, then there will be a "Catastrophe"it also seems like we do not give citizens enough credit for them to provide there own answers to the "then what?"
- designbot0
I don't think the burden of evidence or solution is on those who oppose the bailouts & stimulus package. Is there any sign whatsoever that the stimulus/bailout money is actually working? Some experts suspect that by the end of Obama's first term we will spent close to $7 Trillion dollars in bailout and stimulus money.
We can clearly see that Bush's stimulus didn't do jack. What if this stimulus doesn't work, then what? spend more? will we really hit the insane numbers in borrowed money that some suspect?
