Whats the problem with being a socialist?
Its because of the socialists here in Belgium
i could go to college, that my hospital bill is low
& that i will have a secure pension.

Sure i pay a lot of taxes but the benefits are huge.
When my mother got sick, everything was taken care of by the
government, that last 2 months in hospital would have costed me 32 000 euros but due to the fact that the socialists here worked for a good healtcare system i don't have to pay that, so the downside is that i have to pay high taxes, at least when i get sick, i know
i will be taken care off, when my children need college they will get it and when i don't have a job, at least i will have food, shelter.

Fuck you jaz x, you damn retard for polarising this thread with your laim slogans, of wich you don't even know what they mean.

Because the only thing I've seen and heard is Obama changing the Tax rate back to what it was under Reagan. Is this what makes him "socialist"? Seriosuly. If so, then please tell me why Reagan wasn't a socialist?

Sixty percent of the benefits from his tax cuts go to the wealthiest 10% of Americans—and that’s not the kind of tax relief that Americans need. ... Gov. What is dis-spiriting is paying attention to the bottom-of-the-barrel smears. Why should McBush/Palin campaign effluvium be given any credence whatsoever? Just because they say something it becomes newsworthy. We decry that but allow and respond to the same from JazX. I think the Socialist thing is a little far reaching. However, some of the goals that Obama is after are inching closer to Socialism. The fact that he said 'spread the wealth around' instead of previous justification for taxing the rich - 'they can afford it, so they should pay more' is what is scaring people. While both sentiments equal the same thing, the intent is transparently different. While I think our gov should start learning to make due with less, actually saying you want to spread the wealth is something new as far as I know. Then you add the fact that he'd love to make health care a single-payer system, i.e. gov paid for, is a little scary to some as well. I know that other countries have it, they might love it, I'm convinced that it would be a horrible idea to let our gov pay for our health care. They're wasteful as hell and have 2 social programs already in Social Security and Medicare that are about to cost us tax payers a TON of money. As it is when our gov needs money, they simply print it up through the Fed Reserve, which is what causes inflation. That's the hidden tax on all people that fall below the banks who lend. Anyways back on point - I wouldn't call Obama a Socialist per se, but I think his goals, plus the direction our current administration took on this phoney baloney bailout where our gov now owns stock in major US companies is bringing us closer and closer. Honestly, I can see why some people are getting a bit scared.

    • Look, he's going to kill the Bush tax cuts, so we ALL are going to end up paying more and then his redistr. comments

Didn't Bill Clinton pursue exactly the same policies re: taxes and health care almost 20 years ago? In fact Obama's health care plan is more right wing than Clinton's was in 1992. Point taken that you disagree with those elements of his policy, but if he is socialist, then the entire Democrat party is socialist.

However, when challenged to explain how Obama could eliminate the cap AND not raise taxes on Americans earning under $250,000, Senator Obama suggested on his website that he "might" create a "donut" -- an exemption from this payroll tax for wages between $94,700 and $250,000. But that donut would mean he couldn't raise anywhere near that $1 trillion dollars for Social Security. When this was pointed out, Senator Obama's "donut plan" was quietly removed from his website.

Well believe me Clinton's policy in 1992 was more left wing than Obama's. So was Hillary's, in the Dem primary just this year. In fact, she criticized Obama's plan as too right wing. So, again, if Obama is socialist, the entire Democratic party is. There is nothing special or scary about Obama's degree of liberalism compared to previous presidents or the mainstream left.
