5D is a full frame and supposed to be 21 mp.. in the 3k range... a notch up from D700?

where was that article i saw about megapixels? it said that basically they've hit the ceiling and more megapixels is only adding noise to the image and quality is actually going down.

i been looking at D300 vs D700 vs 5D
5D comes out so much better and i am guessing the new Mark II would be better.

Canon makes great cameras, but how Nikon cameras feel in your hand is so different. I just prefer Nikon's handling feel and also with D3/D700/D300, they have a great line up for the pros.
If I was making money on photography, I'd buy D3 for sure. I am just a amateur photographer so D700 would be the next logical choice. BUT, I just couldn't justify the $2999 price tag for what I do.
Damn it, Dinky! I was content with my decision to get D300. Now I am a bit buzzed and gonna spend another hour or so looking at D700 reviews!!

D90 = D300

keep reading and keep looking at comparison photos

D90 is no where near D300. Similar performance on ISO but that's pretty much it.

Canon 50D seems to be better then D300.
- we'll see what the tests show. It won't have the durability for sure.jaylarson

D300 Continuous shooting from 6 frames, 8 with grip.
D90 4.5 frames.
50D 6.3fps continuous shootingD300 51-point auto focus with 3D focus tracking and three dynamic AF modes
D90 11-point AF system
50D 9-point wide area AFD300 1,005-pixel 3D Color Matrix Metering II
D90 420-pixel RGB 3D Color Matrix Metering IIAll these add up to make a huge difference in overall performance. It's not all about ISO performance. It's the complete package that makes the difference. I wouldn't bother 50D compare to D300. Handling on 50D is not that great.

I dont know, 50D seems pretty nice. i think this is a good time to fresh start?

right now, with limited specs, i would prefer 5D Mark II

i don't know. a lot of canon users dropped their system and moved to nikon for D3 and D300. And even more people are doing so with D700 now. Also SB800 and SB900 are so good that many switched for that reason too.
Right now, things are looking really good for Nikon. The new D700 and D90, their products are well positioned and once they come out with more new nano coating fast lenses, they are set for a long time.
After using D80 and reading so many product reviews, I realized, it's not so much of which has the best spec. It really comes down to which product works the best for you. Also, when you look at the specs side by side, it's very deceptive. I'd choose D700 over 5D II. I'd choose D300 over 50D. It really comes down to my personal preference and needs more than anything else.
You really got to play with the camera before you decide.
- btw, did you get my email about up coming lenses?********

yah. so you gonna get D700 now ?
:D

nah, I don't think I want to travel around with a $3000 camera+$1500 FX zoom lens. 24-70 2.8 is amazing but I really don't want to carry around much.
D300 w 35mm 2.0 and 85 1.4, possibly 18-200 just to as a back up would make sense more for me. even if D300 get stolen, it's still not that crazy expensive that I wouldn't jump off a bridge.

makes sense. i actually just wanna use D700 for few weeks and see
