I watched as my grandmother slowly became the child that I must have once been to her, and all I wished was that I could take care of her the same way she took care of me. On the day she died, I spoke to her, thanked her for being her, and thanked her for my father. I told her I now saw her as my grandmother, but more importantly as my father's mother. I can only imagine what you're going through, and I wish you only the best.

Sorry for your loss. Mine died 3 years ago and it still hurts when I think about it. So I know how it feels. I think(hope) they're better where they are now.

I'm so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing, tank. I know you're nothing short of heart broken right now. Tears stream down my cheeks as I type this. I lost my Mom nearly 9 years ago. I wish I had some magic advice, but I don't. You loved her. She loved you. She's not hurting now. You are probably hurting more than ever. Embrace those around you. Share stories, happy and sad. Laugh through tears. Toast the best of times.

Bless your heart, tank. What a beautiful picture – so much soul captured in that moment. Feel free to email if you want any extra-forum support. I lost my Dad some time back, and sometimes it feels like my Mom is the main anchor I have in this crazy world.

So very sorry for your loss tank.
My Mum (that’s how we spell it here) looks after my 2 boys a couple of days a week. When my nieces and nephews were born she and my Dad were in the middle of their divorce, so she didn’t get to spend much time with them (those kids are now in their twenties). First thing she said when my first son was born was that she didn’t want to make that mistake this time.
She does all the things Grandmas are supposed to do – lets my oldest boy drink Coke (just a little), lets him pee in the bath, just indulges their childish leanings.
She is a database creator and a wiz at teaching other retirees all those apps that we laugh about here – FrontPage, PowerPoint, Word, etc. She rings me for PhotoShop help at all hours of the day or night. She taught herself computers after she and Dad split.
When my son first told her “I love you Grandma” last week, it brought tears to her eyes, much like the ones in mine now as I type this.
All the best Tank. When we all eventually tread that path, folks like you are there to show us the way.

My mom and I had a relationship that's all about feeding. And food. I've only included birthday shots here, but many of my other pictures have to do with food as well. Now it's time for me to go off into the world on my own ;)
(in the 3rd one I am laughing because my sister, who was apparently my "bestest" friend EVER at the time, was really excited about the cake my mom was about to feed her)
- awww, those are great.brains
