First of all, thank God you are okay physically.
Second, I know what it feels like. I had a gun stuck in my face 7 years ago and was robbed of the motorcycle I was on. Quiet neighborhood on a wednesday night, I sit at the light waiting for it to turn green when the 2 guys crossing the street decides to point a gun at me and take it. Just like you, I couldn't even comprehend the situation and just went "Wha?". It wasn't until later when I got to a nearby gas station that I realized what happened and the shock came.
Seeing as you did the right thing by reporting them, what you need to do now is deal with it. I know a bunch of people who have been robbed - some of them still feel awkward in certain situations and it sucks. Be it just being in the dark, seeing people in green jackets, loud noises or whatever.
Personally, I got a gun. As politically incorrect as it may be or whatever hippies want to call it, it works for me and makes me feel safe. I have weapons under the seats of the cars and we have a spare one locked inside our house.
I don't know what works best for you, but talking to someone is always a good start. Good luck and thank God it was just twelve bucks. They will get what's coming to them, karma is a bitch.
