Oh gawd... check this out: http://www.crowdspring.com/
Now there's a business dedicated to turning designers into a commodity. What a horrible business idea. Here's what they say:
1. Post a creative project
Whether you need a new logo, website, marketing materials or a custom illustration, just tell us what you need, when you need it and how much you'd like to pay.2. Watch the world participate
Once posted, Creatives from all around the world will work on your project and you'll begin to receive actual work - not proposals or bids - to review.3. Choose the one you like
As the entries come in, you'll be able to review, sort, rate, give feedback and collaborate with Creatives until you find 'the one".What does everyone think about this?

that is hilarious that your email Judi_in_Disguise is from Aquent. Nice damage control.
- ukit0
Looks exactly like the site Aquent used. What's your point?
- jamble0
I think it's a brilliant idea. I'm sick of trying to earn a decent living to support my family and I want to get back to doing work for fuck all.
- VIN-Cent0
Eye eye what do we av here. Hope the artists and designers involved see the light eventually?
- jevad0
For FUCKS SAKE.
Is everybody over at Aquent a complete fucking moron or something?
- It's becoming more and more apparent they are.amongthemasses

"7 teams will work on building the house of your dreams and you'll begin to see the actual progress - not blueprints or diagrams - Then, in six months time .........

not in disguise at all... that's the online name I use on for personal email and most of my online stuff. But can I ask why people are so hateful and full of rage that they feel they must personally attack someone they do not know? Not just me, but I see LOTS of vitriolic attacks here and on other sites. I don't see any of you using your real names here (and Judi is my real name), yet you are saying things that might make your mothers' cringe. And why? Because you didn't like the fact that someone tried to hold a contest (which I didn't even know about until after the face... it came from our HQ and I'm out in a region). Ok, I agree they didn't think it through carefully enough and they withdrew it. But did they personally harm you? Personally condemn you in a public forum? And If you feel that I have wronged you, pick up the phone and we'll talk it through; I'll listen to your side, and you listen to mine and we'll each either gain some insight, or we'll agree to disagree. I sincerely would love to talk with you. There is far too much real hatred and enmity in the world... we needn't add more.
- It's becaues your damage control methods are dishonest and we see through it. You need to earn our respect 1st.cannonball
- Because you posted a defense of Aquent, typing in the third person as if you were just some casual observer.Josev
- Yet you work for Aquent. It was dishonest and manipulative.Josev
- This fool deserve no respect from this community. How long has she been a member? Did she contribute prior to her post in the Aquent thread?Josev
- in the Aquent thread?Josev

Judi, my name is Dave Graniacci and you're a moron. There, feel better now that you know my name?
- cannonball0
Red Herrrrrringgg!!!!
- Lt_Jack_Hammer0
Hahaha...my name isn't Dave...sorry, I'm a total ass. It's Bill.
- lol "It's Dave..." *phone rings* "...It's Bill! It's Bill!"cannonball

"But did they personally harm you?"
Yes, as a designer, this type of shit *personally harms me. As a profession that I built my life around, this is harmful. If you don't know why, you're not a designer. Aquent can bite it for promoting any of this contest bullshit.
..I use my real name, never cared. But I usually don't have issues with the right people here because I respect my business.
- jfletcher0
btw - I'm happy to have a real discussion about this, and why it is harmful to our profession. How this type of contribution contest system marginalizes Design. How doing free work doesn’t help anyone and why it helps perpetuate the idea that 15 year olds can do Design, and Design is simply cool trendy aesthetic methods.

Social Graphic Design, jeez. I thought we were relativly safe from this flattening of the world.
I guess not.
Once kids in Sudan get computers and design programs we are somewhat doomed.
- nah. design is based in relevance. be relevant to premium design and you have nothing to worry about.cannonball
- cannonball0
I'm not. I have no time for helping with the ethics learning curve in our industry. Either you key yourself in, or flounder about wondering why people are mad at you.
- monkeyshine0
apparently someone didn't read my salt in wound comment in the other thread. if you people would just listen to me your lives would be so much better. :)
...this is another reason to draft a letter to Aquent's CEO; I fear his off brand children might bring the house down.
- monkeyshine0
Judi...honestly, shouldn't you be consulting with HQ before publicly responding in Aquent's name? You're unravelling the hard work that your humble peer has accomplished here.
- Josev0
"not in disguise at all... that's the online name I use on for personal email and most of my online stuff."
> Please explain why you posted in the other thread in the third person, commenting like you were an observer and criticizing thread participants. You should have disclosed your relationship to Aquent at that time.
"But can I ask why people are so hateful and full of rage that they feel they must personally attack someone they do not know?"
> And you didnt earn that? See above. Plus you were defending someone who had angered this community (don't forget that creatives are also your customers) by soliciting spec work, and who when called out for his poor decision offered a very condescending and insincere apology.
"Not just me, but I see LOTS of vitriolic attacks here and on other sites. I don't see any of you using your real names here (and Judi is my real name), yet you are saying things that might make your mothers' cringe."
> I believe there were only a few people who made comments of this nature. Why don't you respond to the majority of the posts which have some substance behind them.
"And why? Because you didn't like the fact that someone tried to hold a contest (which I didn't even know about until after the face... it came from our HQ and I'm out in a region). Ok, I agree they didn't think it through carefully enough and they withdrew it."
> I'm glad we agree on something.
"But did they personally harm you? Personally condemn you in a public forum?"
> I suppose the same could be said of the "Vitriolic attacks on here and other sites" that you commented about above. Which is supposedly what brought you here -- you were just defending what was right!
"And If you feel that I have wronged you, pick up the phone and we'll talk it through; I'll listen to your side, and you listen to mine and we'll each either gain some insight, or we'll agree to disagree. I sincerely would love to talk with you. There is far too much real hatred and enmity in the world... we needn't add more."
> Once again, more insincerity from Aquent. The anger here is well deserved.
