Saw it this weekend. Liked it a lot. Yes there's CG overkill, but it is what it is – mindless matinee popcorn flick.

believe it or not... by bf downloaded a super pirate version of it, and is trying to watch the damn thing on my computer! now I'm pissed because that obviously ruins my movie going experience because I'm so damn tempted to watch it!

First half was pretty decent, but as soon as they went to South America you could see all George Lucas' fingerprints on it and it turned uber-ghey....fucking aliens. Why? WHY? Are you going to tie this into some sort of midochloridian count or some shit George...fuck you Lucas and that damn ranch of yours..

Yeah, but this was dumb ass saucer men that made absolutely no sense..."They went to the space between spaces..." Geez. That's only work if Rod Sterling wrote the script..at least it would've made sense..

I would love to get a look at the screenplay Frank Darabont wrote, and that Lucas rejected. Apparently Spielberg felt that it was the best since Raiders. But Georgie no likey.

I wouldn't persuade anyone to not see it, it did have the old-school fun to it. What made me sad was the obvious CGI and uneeded, over the top scenes.......
namely:
1. atomic bomb/fridge scene
2. prairie dogs!
3. floating gunpowder at Area 51
4. Commie dragging ants!!
5. and *sigh* aliens.......there just had to be better ways to do it, and I do realize that Indiana Jones movies are campy, and that makes them fun, but this one seemed to have been pushed too far..........
George Lucas is moving up on my dislike list.
love it, hate it, watch it to be sure. thats my take.

Agreed...And I like the way Indy says :"No one has spoken this in 3000 years.Maybe if I run it through a bit of Mayan..." and 8 seconds later he realizes it's a riddle and knows the entire text of it. My eyeballs rolled..what is he a fucking super genius? I mean he's a smart guy, but c'mon...and then all the "He worked for the OSS" stuff during the war..so now we had to make him a super spy too?
And the atomic fridge bit was too much...
Frankly, it needed MORE prairie dogs.

the falls drop was done far worse in Temple of Doom in a life raft off a cliff. But that and the quicksand to me were minor compared to the rest.........

This movie was a shit storm full of shit vines and shit plots.
I was so excited in the beginning too. The shadow putting on the hat.... fucking rad. It was all downhill after that.

i love how things in this movie are ideas used in other movies...
the whole thing in the end that the treasure was knowledge [taken from Contact with Jodie Foster] with the aliens saying we arent ready for the knowledge.the pyramids being created by aliens used in [Stargate]
the aliens looked familar [Giger]
nothing real original.
indy was indy... [which was fun]
overall it was disappointing... during the movie it was hinted that indy was with the CIA and that years have passed as him working with them, really to me that sounded like such a cooler movie than this alien crystal skull thing... which was very forced and has a lot of plot holes. a whole movie of CIA espionage, indy and whips seems like a perfect movie oh yeh and NAZIS not Russians!!!
this movie was lacking with Indy cracking his whip, just not enough.
its fun but.... meh!!!
