I'm looking at changing from wood to 2-piece composite/wood. Heard good things about the Easton UltraLite.

In Canada, the streets are paved with ice for skating?
- AndyRoss0
I've played some ice hockey in my day. Not that much, I still have all my teeth.
Nothing like checking the living shit out of somebody!

I run away from checks, not that people have tried to hit me. Must be because I'm a girl. And I used to be more small.
The streets don't need to be paved with ice by the city. Mother nature takes care of that bit...

I like Easton Synergy sticks.

I grew up playing hockey until my final high school days and always thought Koho and Easton made the nicest sticks.
Just recently joined a street hockey league and got myself a mid-range Koho stick. Seems good on the street at least.

I never had my own equipment growing up when we played.
I couldn't roller blade or ice skate very well either, so I'd often be goalie. That equipment was also borrowed. Which in hind sight really wasn't much and if you've ever been hit squarely with a roller puck you'll know what I'm talking about.
- grew up playing in an inner city charity league in upstate ny as a goalie. the only pads I had were:ninjasavant
- a helmet, leg pads from the 60s, a first basemans mitt, and a piece of cardboard for a blocker.ninjasavant

Excalibur... koho carbon fiber 2 piece. it's bombproof. Those new composites break too easily.

Growing up in northern Canada, it's pretty much all we did. Year round, we played on streets, in parking lots, on ponds. Every elementary school had its own outdoor rink. We play everywhere. As long as the stick isn't broken, we used it. But I really like the new RBK one-piece sticks, they have a good flex rating, and they last pretty good. The less curve the better.

I play in an in-line hockey league (yes technically that makes me a rollerblader...but ice time is expensive and hard to come by in California).
I think all the expensive sticks are overrated. I've tried a few of them that belong to other people on my team and honestly I like the wooden ones better. I just use the cheap ones I can get at the sports store for about $20 apiece. We don't have much of a selection because not many people play in my area so its more of a take what you can get kind of deal. And since I'm not very good I can't justify mail-ordering special equipment.
