/\ I agree. I think the best mode of attack (for lack of better words) is knowledge and awarness not changing legislation and everything that comes with it. Guns are illegal in Canada basically but changing the us laws so drastically is a bad idea.

    • wat ponyboy saidmolo
    • there is no way they will make guns illegal, its a huge business, huge... why would they? they dont careMeeklo

Some people are going to think I'm an asshole, but I'm not going to lie, one of the most hooking questions in my mind about all these incidents is how the fuck are these guys such bad shots? I mean, I'm extremely glad, but isn't it a bit odd that they can fire so many rounds and (thank god) kill only 5 people instead of, say, 30?

    • I apologize if anyone's offended...ismith
    • probably someone with no training with guns? you thought you had to be trained to buy one? whats your point?Meeklo
    • Don't need training for a shotgunflashbender
    • well when you shoot someone they drop. instead of fire another round into them.. they aim for someone elsebliznutty
    • its like a video game i guess. COD4 rules.. oh yeah wrong thread.. i thought this was the bush iraq hahabliznutty

so instead of getting a gun at your local friendly store with no other requirements than having to hands gets banned.

Now people will get it in the corner by a low life (that buys from the same guy that sells to the store), I think they will never go away but at least they won't be as accessible, and now if you get caught with a gun, you go to jail cause you bought it on the black market.

Yeah, crazy people will always exists, an if there were no guns, they will be at it with a knife, but at least make it hard for them to get it!

    • the problem is they already exist and everyone has one. to say someone can't defend themselves from everyone is unfairbliznutty

No no, but it's not hard to fire a handgun or shotgun accurately especially at close range. I have about 7 guns and have been firing since I was about 10, and even then the first time with a shotgun I hit the target every time. Obviously it depends on the type of shells he used, but honestly, it seems extremely lucky to me.

    • In response to Meeklo's note...ismith
    • If he was using any common shell the pellet spread would be pretty wide, enough to clip 4 or so people at once.ismith
    • :(ismith
    • you have 7 guns and you been using it since 10...Meeklo

We have already been brain washed to believe that a gun is for protection / defense. A gun was designed to attack and to kill.
A shield, a bullet proof vest is for protection. A gun is not.

    • I respectfully disagree with you. A vest is passive protection, a gun is active protection.ismith
    • well you own 7 guns, and you shoot since you were 10...
I'm no scientist but I already figured out we won't agree

    • Hah, good point.ismith

It's social darwinism at work. This generation, by and large, has been raised to believe they are part of a big cosmic accident. That their lives are the product of a series of blind processes which didn't have them in mind. Therefore life has no real intrinsic value or dignity.

Want to stop school shootings? Teach kids from infancy that they matter. That they have a purpose. That they were created with dignity.

    • and THEN give them a gun...Meeklo
    • lol. so wrong.teleos
    • hey kid, you know what you matter, your life is valuable, here is a candy and here is a gun. Now dont go shooting while I'm gone...Meeklo
    • while I'm gone, there is enough candy and guns in this class for everyoneMeeklo
    • Guns don't kill people. Nihilists with guns kill people.teleos
    • guns kill, people aim and trigger :)Meeklo
    • Metal fragments and exit wounds from bullets kill. Guns only fire. :)ismith
    • Right, cause people who believe in a god NEVER kill people...oh...er...w...TheBlueOne

active protection? just call it attack man come on, give me that at least.. haha

    • It is an attack, you're right. But if someone shot at innocent people and I was present with a gun, you bet I'd shoot.ismith
    • yes! you can counter attack, thats correct. Thats a huge step, thanks!Meeklo
    • << and you'd probably miss and kill an innocent.jaylarson
    • Probably not, I'm a pretty good shot. Plus, he was standing in front of a wall..ismith
    • If I thought it wasn't worth it I wouldn't do it.ismith

i don't see where any of you are going on gun laws. my family lives on land in the south. they hunt to survive still. amongst growing rice and raising crawfish. they USE guns. how the hell can you take guns away from man? guns help man live. pure. guns are here, have been and will be. love for the earth. and life. people kill people.

WHEW....... reading through this thread was like climbing a mountain of warm soft shit.

Here's the deal dummies. Most deaths occur from people who illegally obtain weapons, so if you take weapons away from people who legally obtain them, then who is left with a weapon. ding dong, yes you're fucked.

When someone invades this country, and it will happen. I'd rather every tom, dick, and charlie own a weapon than to have a bunch of non-gun owning / un-trained pansies running around with their tails between their legs getting blasted like ducks on the pond. Oh and Iraq. Yes total bad idea. Never liked it from the start, but those people want us dead in the end. It's their prophecy. Let me repeat. It's their prophecy. That is a fact. I'll keep my loaded shotgun under my bed, and only fuck with people that fuck with me.

    Out. *slaps for the thread.

Let the mountain of soft warm shit rise!

    • that was seriously the most clever well thought out post yet.. n1 ha lolbliznutty

    • Most deaths occur from people who illegally obtain weapons,
not exactly what happened in the last few school shootings..
      Meeklo
    • are school shootings even 1% of actual deaths by guns???? next.....onewhoslaps

if there are laws, people WILL break them but even more people WILL respect them. So if a law making guns illegal will be put in place there still WILL be robberies with guns, there still WILL be school shooting, but there WILL be way less of those kind of crimes.

So my vote is ban the guns.

Of course there is a msall griou of peopel who do need the guns for survival so those hsould be taken in account, still having 7 guns like ismith... i mean it's a free country but damn!

    • i feel ya!
      city and guns don't mix.
      cops neither
      bliznutty
  • ismith0

    1) Banning guns is unconstitutional
    2) It would make a lot of constitutionalists radical survivalists, and that just wouldn't end well for society
    3) MANY people hunt for food with guns, half my family in South Carolina cooks 50% of their dinners with hunted meat

If you ask me, putting more regulations on guns is dodging the root of the problem, which is the people committing these acts... you can address that problem with better trained and informed police, self defense education for regular people (safest options in hostage situations, etc), etc etc South Park is on, later.

    • why do you need to hunt with guns. I understand it you have a riffle. thats diffrent. but a glock. nah.akrokdesign
    • I don't own any handguns.ismith
    • well thats good. :-)akrokdesign

    • Why are Americans always going on about the constitution like it means something. Do you know how amended and altered that things is?

well, apparently the system that we have now, sure ain't working. you can't blame it all on the gun control. It part of it, but not the hole problem. it's a social problem. parents who don't care or take care of there own kids as they grow up. also how other people treat other people. specially at school. there at lot of grouping etc. people get freeze out. you know. also the environment has effect on us.

  • akrokdesign0

by the way, there is statics on that people how carry any kind of weapon as a higher risk of get hurt or killed.

    well, thats common sense.

  • jfletcher0

Not sure if anyone already said this....
There was another article on CNN (pushed down because of this) of a 10 year old shooting his sister in the face with a shot gun over a bag of chips. The kid had to get the gun, load it, then fire. Obviously someone trained him. I'm not even sure I know how to do that...
    More great parenting.

    • Um... my 3yo cousin could load a gun if he tried. It's as simple as cocking the action and putting a bullet in the chamber for single round fire.ismith
    • The parents should have had the safety on and a trigger lock. In a locked case. Common sense.ismith

don't blame the guns, blame society.

    and then guns.
